I agree that a diesel engine would be an interesting option, but part of the QX's selling proposition is the powerful engine and strong acceleration despite being such a heavy vehicle. It would be possible to achieve similar acceleration with a turbocharged diesel engine, but you won't achieve the 20 mpg that the other person mentioned. Also, only a small portion of North Americans will buy a full size diesel SUV (although that's changing slowly with time). Mercedes offers a diesel option in their GL, but few customers opt for it. And there's no available transmission technology (at least at a viable price) that will take the QX up to 20 mpg.

Founder, my cousin and I thought you knew about some new technology that we did not Sure, Nissan could have taken the QX to a truly state of the art vehicle at a much higher price point, but their stockholders demand that their primary goal is to maximize profits, versus merely having the bragging rights that they have the most technologically advanced vehicle. Taking the price point of this truck upward would quickly reduce the demand for it (for example, look at how few well regarded, but high priced LX470's are sold versus other full size SUV's). Tempered by the fact that overall demand for full size SUV's is way down from several years ago, my opinion is the new QX is going to be a good sales success so long as fuel prices do not jump up another dollar or more. A lot of that will be due to the price point Nissan has been able to achieve, feature for feature, versus the competition.

I have 3 infiniti vehicles they all have problems. The worst is QX56 2006 well maintained that failed smog, problem is the 2 cat manifolds which will cost $2,700 to repair, Infiniti consumer affiars refused to help and only infiniti dealer can do this repair, I am sick and tired of infiniti. Anybody has this problem and what is the way out.

May be not a good idea, execpt you want to be known by infiniti dealer, because you will visit more often with problems.

That's not covered under the emissions warranty? How many miles does your truck have on it?
