And Edmund's prices probably don't reflect that. My Acura dealer in western PA offered me a spectacular deal on a new 2008 MDX Sport ($38,500 price on a MSRP of over $45k). But then only offered us $15k on our 2005 which, according to Edmunds, should be worth $21k+. They weren't trying to screw us, as the price on the new MDX was fantastic - it's just that used prices have suffered as well. Frankly, a 6 year old 90k mile VW isn't exactly a sexy trade and they may be planning on having to send it to auction. My recommendation is that you first negotiate a good cash price on the TL. And then, if you don't like the trade-in they offer, sell your VW privately. But going back and forth on two negotiations simultaneously is playing into the hands of the dealer. And I also recommend that, if they don't get MUCH more realistic on the price of the used 07, you shop around for a new 08. The deals are out there. |

Replying to: ohiocarbuyer (Oct 13, 2008 6:48 pm) people posting brand new 2008 base TL for around $28,000, some posted even less then that. Plus you can get much better financing on the new model. I think 0.9% -36 or 2.9%- 60 month. Check out incentives and rebates on the new cars section. And you can combine this with $3500 cash back |
