Purchased base TL $30,100 with 0.9%, 48 mos. financing. Price includes destination charge (does not include tax, lic, etc). Financing goes to 2.9% if 60 mos term. Dealer offered $28,900 if we got our own financing.

PowerAcura in Torrance, CA. Fleet and Internet Department. They emailed the price and encouraged me to shop it around. Shopped it at two largest dealerships and they didn't counter

No pressure from Finance guy to purchase add ons. Great experience.

Registration and Excise Taxes in Indiana for TL? by riorebel

I see that there are a couple of people from the Indianapolis area. I just registered two Acura TL's this morning - a base model and a sport model. The base model was $412, and the TL-S was $251. This makes no sense, because they should be basically the same, and if they were to be different you'd expect the TL-S to be the higher cost to the tag.

Apparently the cost on the base model auto populated when the lady typed it in, and she had to look up info on the TL-S. This led me to believe that the base model was correct, and I probably should have had to pay even more on the TL-S. So I shut up and accepted it.

Can any of you here from Indiana share what you paid for your tag? If I had a reference to go by for either vehicle I would have an idea whether I saved money or overpaid.

Thanks!

This forum has given me tons of info, time for payback.
Got my beauty 08 TL with NAV Ext RBP Int parchment
Emailed almost all dealers in and around orange county ,quite amazed to see dealers so aggresive. To keep it short Metro Acura had the straight quote of $30,646+TTL but they wouldnt do the .9% APR.Finally got the TL from Sierra Acura for $33,995 OTD .Even better they slipped in trunk tray, splash guards, wheel locks and all weather mats along with the .9%.Wier Canyon would match the rate but refused the PRO PAC and Cerritos wouldnt go more than $32,450 OTD.It could easily have been my best car buying experience but for the finance manager at Sierra who tried to bump up my apr and sell me the extended warranty .they only agreed after i started to walkaway.such an aggresive pricing and the .9% there could never be a time as good as this. The worst they can do is sell the car at a loss.buyers bonanza all the way

Base TL no Nav in MA by sdtx

Hi,

I've been following this forum for a while and in the market now for a base 08 TL w/o Nav. There is some invaluable information in this forum and I hope to share my buying experience once it's all said and done.

Based on all the posts here, it seems I should be looking at Invoice-2K as a base price for negotiations. Can anyone confirm that?

Anyone has experience with dealerships in the Boston area?

Thanks much.

I bought my TL at Acura of Boston in Brighton, MA. I bought an '06 TL w/ Nav AT brand new for $32,750 when invoice was $35,325, so I guess that may hold as accurate.

Hello: I also bought my '05 non-nav AT TL at A of B. Purchased for invoice (~30,350 IIRC), no rebates but 2.9%/48mo through AHFC. Buying at invoice wasn't too difficult to negotiate at A of B or Clair (now Prime) but A of B (eventually) gave me more for my trade.

Service-wise I give A of B a C+. Nice folks, but my two warranty issues (rattles) each took two trips to fix. I can't believe they didn't know they hadn't fixed the rattles the first time when they released the car to me. Oh, and after one service, they washed the car but then parked it under a tree and the birds did a bit of target practice...!

Note that their "Doc Fee" ($197) included "free" lifetime state inspections.

2007 TL Type S, How much should I pay? by younikwoo

The Acura dealer near by has a 2007 TL-S in the lot. The car has 5000 some miles on it. according to the salesman, they have some special program that the boss of the dealership drives a new Acura every several months and put 5000 on it then leave it in the lot and switch to drive another new one (i personally found it hard to believe, maybe it's just a loaner, who knows). so he showed me this car and said he can give me a really good deal on it. the salesman also told me that they have to sell the car as used if it has more than 6000 miles. he let me only test drove for like 3 blocks (i have no idea what it runs like on highway).

So, This TL type S Blue, w/ Sticker $38,000 ish, consider it

-2007 Model
-5000+ miles on it, not registered before.
-no choice of color
-no low finance available(08 models has special finance)
-2009 model is due with in a year
-bad test drive experience

how much should i aim if i want to buy it? i know the TMV of a 2008 TL-S is $35,000ish.

i would not pay more than $29k for it, a new one can be had at low to mid $32k, 5000 mile on is considered used, no matter how the salesman tried to bs its way around it.
btw: insist on taking a drive to the freeway or high way, it has to be driven more than 3 blocks to get a feel on the car.
my 2 cent.

I agree with the sentiment, but I think you may be overstating how cheap he can get a new one. I wouldn't ever assume someone can buy a car for significantly less than invoice (minus any incentives or cash back), and at mid $32k's you are well under that.

I do agree, though, that this is a used car and can't be considered new. Honestly, I'll be surprised if they'll sell it to you for its true value, assuming they won't be able to apply any dealer incentive cash.

Look at like this: you will almost certainly be able to buy a brand new TL-S for around $33,000, where you will have the full warranty and be able to get exactly what you want. How much do you need to save on this car for it to be worth it? Two thousand? Three thousand?

I wouldn't pay anything near new price on it, but a lot of it depends on how much that 5000 miles means to you.
