I know you say that you were looking for the salesperson to sell themselves or the dealership, but you didn't really explain it that clearly in your email. Your statement now I can really get this deal anywhere followed by Is there anything you can offer that would help me decide to buy from your dealership? implies that you are looking for something of "monetary" value to sweeten the deal. The salesperson was just doing what you had asked. Then when you get all indignant at him for doing EXACTLY WHAT YOU HAD ASKED to close the deal, he is upset and understandably so. Perhaps he should have been a little more diplomatic in his response; however, I totally sympathize with him. In fact, after reading your story, I'd be MORE inclined to visit the dealership in question since it seems like they will go to great lengths to close deals. |

If pricing really wasn't the main reason for buying from a dealership, then you should have started out with that objective in your first contact. Instead, you chose to discuss price first. I have no idea what exactly you were looking for, but what you're asking sounds condescending and rude to the salesman. You want him to hold your hand? Give you a backrub? Promise that he'll always be true to you? You're buying a car for crying out loud. And let's be honest, you're not a luxury buyer. You're buying an Acura. Spend $50k+ and then you might start getting some royal treatment. Or buy a vehicle that you have to pay sticker for because of the demand. Until then, you're buying a Honda with a different badge on it. -moo

There were snags, first with my own credit unions financing, then the unwanted an unexpected upward swing in payments with shorter term loan the finance manager was able to get me. Even with that, they were able to swing the price and a few extras into the deal to get my payments more comfortable. I am also very thankful that the car was not all tarted up with dealer adds like some of the local deals tend to do. Honestly, one dealer (Acura, Honda, Toyota etc) had MORE than $4000 in adds to a 2007 Accord EX!!! 4k adds on a 23k car!!! The only thing the dealer I used had insisted on was the security etching, and I am ok with that. It's easy to get cold feet on such a large purchase, I don't blame people, but I think the salesperson makes or breaks that part. I never felt uncomfortable at this place, but wanted to run away from a couple others BEFORE a test drive! I hope that is more clear.

I have no respect for people like that. She's telling HIM that she's insulted by a discount and then telling him how to do his job. Get a life, lady. -moo |

| Just had a great experience at Acura of Ocean. I just leased a 2008 Acura TL for 36 months and 10,000 miles a year. The sticker on the car was $34,440. After everything was said and done, I ended up putting down $2,000 TOTAL out of pocket. Thats tax, tags, security, first month, etc. Monthly payment is $377. I think I got a good deal. This dealership also gives you free oil changes for your ENTIRE lease agreement. There is a $1,500 alotment at the end of the lease for scratches etc. and there is no turn in fee at the end of the lease. All in all I think I negotiated a good deal. | |

Found a cheaper price & they met it (back in July 07). Our salesman was very friendly & helpful and went out of his way for us. We had nothing negative at all to say about any of the people we encountered during our 3 trips there. (They were very patient with us, even though I wanted to test drive the car multiple times). They stood by their quote, had the car ready when promised, and it was a stress-free sale. I did have to buy the door etching (it was done prior to our purchase). No big deal. We got an excellent price and I love my car! I have not been in for service yet, my car still only has 3900 miles on it. They told me to wait 'until the car tells me I need service'. So that's what I am doing. I am not sure what you were expecting from them, beyond the good price. If you go spend $100k on a car, then maybe you'll get some special treatment, but really - Acura 101 West is a great place to buy a car! |

Replying to: tritium (Jan 14, 2008 8:42 am) Quite honestly, I may have been able to get a slightly better deal, but I had burned my bridges at all the other dealerships who blatantly tried to screw me. I did my homework, and based on the average price people in my area were paying for the car, it was several hundred dollars below that. I bought it at Acura of Boston (in Mass., obviously). I hope this helps! |
