#8133 of 12077 TMV and Trade In Prices At Edmunds
Jul 17, 2007 (4:24 pm)
I went to a NJ Acura dealer today fully expecting to buy a TL S Blue based on the Edmunds TMV price of 35,735 (dealer would not go below 36,500) and the Edmunds trade in value of $5,200 for my 2002 Mitsu Diamante (dealer said Galves trade in value is only $3,000). I kind of felt like a dope and they said "we have people come in here all the time with Edmunds and Blue Book numbers for new and used cars and they just aren't realistic." At this net price I cannot afford the car. Are they feeding me a bill of goods? Is the Edmunds TMV accurate? Could the Edmunds trade in value be that far off (BTW, the Kelly Blue Book value for my Mitsu was almost $7,000). Can anyone tell me what prices and values I can count on?

Well, since no one is responding to me I'll just chime in with the latest in my saga! I went online through Edmunds seeking more quotes on a TL-S...I asked 4 more NJ dealers. I got one last night within 10 minutes and it's an astonishing $34,538 or $1,962 less than what the other dealer said was their lowest price! Even worse, I signed up for Galves online and found that my trade in is actually worth $4,500 according to them, not the $3,000 the dealer told me. Looks like the first dealer I tried was really trying to hose me. And, it turns out, Edmunds trade in value of $5,121 was not so far off after all. Thanks Edmunds!
I'm going to the new dealer this evening to try to hammer this out...unless one of the others gets back to me with a better price in the meantime!
One more thing, Edmunds is showing a $1,500 manufacturer give back to the dealer for every TL sold in July but it appears that is only good if the special 4.9% financing is not used. I assume that's what allowed this new dealer the ability to give me a quote below Edmunds invoice price. So I'm searching for the best deal in financing outside Acura as well.

save yourself some time and try doing it over the phone with the internet manager. They always seem more interested in giving a better deal when your not there.

GVB....look at the prices people are getting for 2007 now. You can see they are dropping. A coworker of mine purchased a 2006 /Nav for $29,000 plus taxes last Nov....They had all sorts of rebates that time last year.

Was this with using the dealer cash and no financing? Please specify. Thanks.

Picked up the car last night from Acura in Ocean twp. Options included rear spoiler, color matched door guards, and side panel guards, cargo mat, and wheel locks. I switched from my Lexus ES. The TL offers more standard options than the ES for the $$ so I switched. For anyone considering a Lexus, my experience with Ray Catena was very positive over the past six years. The Acura mgmt could take a lesson on greeting customers from Lexus since they totally ignored me the first time I walked into their dealership. I can't put the name of the salesperson in this e-mail but my experience with him was very pleasant. His first initial is "U". Good luck.
#8139 of 12077 I got an 07 TL Type S and LOVE IT

I just went and picked up my brand new car & wow! I love it.
Its a white, 07 TL Type S, Automatic. I got a killer deal, $33,300 plus TTL. Options: tinted windows (looks gorgeous), wheel locks, Phantom Theft Deterrent engravings, & mud guards. I love the car & the price was awesome!
If you are in Southern California, make a trip to Acura 101 West in Calabasas. The whole sales transaction was wonderful. No stress, no high pressure, smooth deal. Ask for the Fleet Manager to get the best prices.
This car is so much fun to drive. The voice recognition works really well, too (for the bluetooth phone & for nav & the radio/temperature controls). Nothing negative yet at all, although I have only had the car for a couple hours. I just wanted to share the great experience I had at Acura 101 West
#8140 of 12077 Any recent 2007 TL-S purchases in Chicago?
Jul 18, 2007 (5:41 pm)
Hello all - After test-driving a TL-S this past week, I admit it... I'm smitten. Given that the new model year versions are about to come out, I'm hoping that now is a good time to act. Has anyone purchased a Type-S from a Chicago-land dealer lately that would be willing to share some details of how you did in the negotiating and whom you dealt with? I purchased my previous car used from McGrath, but I didn't do my homework that time so I'm trying to redeem myself! If you prefer private, feel free to email me at Yahoo. My address is tkactl07. Thanks!

Wow, they're wheeling and dealing in California.
Good luck with your new TL-S.

I emailed all of the local Chicago land dealers to see what kind of price I could get online. The lowest I was able to get was exactly $1,500 below invoice as they were subtracting the manufacturer to dealer cash. Invoice on this car isn't bad but I think there's room for improvement given that the 2008 TL-S is about to hit lots any day now.
