I would lean closer to the 3 year mark. Look at it in terms of what you would want if you were a buyer of that vehicle. If you were shopping for a pre-owned Acura now would you rather be looking at a 2004 with 35 K miles or a 2002 with 60K. Plus a dealer would rather have that 04 because they can certify it and still offer an attractive warranty benefit to the customer from the certification.

Good job. That is an incredible price. I can understand why your dealer had to start watching the last few few pennies.

Thanks for the info on the phone. I had been considering upgrading. The Acura website was still testing this phone the last time I checked it.

Sure! One more thing, if you get this phone (Katana) turn the bluetooth off when you are not in the car, otherwise you have to charge the phone almost every day!

qubic27,

I hope you are still monitoring this board because I am curious about the $500 off the original OTD price that you got from your dealer. Is this a manufacturer/bank to dealer incentive? I can't find any information on it online.

I am in the final stage of negotiating with dealers for a 07 TL with Nav, Black/Taupe. It would be nice to bring down the OTD price $500.

Anyone knows anything about this?

Thanks!

I have a pretty nice quote from a local dealer, but my fiance wonders if the low quote is because the car is a lemon. Now that she has raised this possibility, I am getting all paranoid. What do you think? Is this a possibility?

Hi vnh84,

I spoke to three dealers, each one eventually admitted they had a 500 dollar off incentive if I took financing through Honda Motor Company. Tustin Acura first said they didn't have that offer, they only admitted later that they did after I told them Alhambra Acura is offering a lower quote. When I told Tustin the price I was being offered from Alhambra Acura (did not mention the 500 incentive for taking the loan through Honda), Tustin replied with a statement saying they could match that price only if I financed my car through Honda Motor Company. I was a bit upset at Tustin because the first time I spoke to them I point blank asked them if they had the offer and they said no, only after I was offered a lower quote did they come out and tell me they did. Of course that was enough for me not to buy my car through Tustin.

As for the lemon thing. Not sure if it is legal to sell a car that is known to be a lemon without mentioning it to the buyer. Also if that is true, each one of those three dealers must have lemons in the color I was looking for sitting on their lots. Not very likely. I was about to settle for the 36,650 price with Tustin but ended up getting my car for 36,120.

Lastly, like you, I had no idea in regards to this 500 dollar incentive for financing through Honda. I could not find anything online documenting this other than the information I read on this site. However it turned out to be true. Give it a try, the worst you could do is save 500 dollars. Are you working with So.Cal dealerships? This may only be a so.Cal offer. What's the price you have been quoted if you don't mind me asking.
