Dealer Cost by tballer

Is there any way to determine the actual dealer cost of a TL w/ Navigation?

The invoice prices I have found on the internet range from $32,953 to $33,137, but I am looking for the actual cost to the dealer so I can determine a fair offer on the car.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure they get (all Honda and Acura) a 3% holdback on MSRP. They actually pay dealer invoice for the car, but once it sells they'll get 3% of the MSRP back. Good luck getting into the dealer holdback money though. I think a fair offer on the TLs is anywhere from invoice to $500 above invoice depending on what region of the country purchase the car in (seems like you get a better offer in the NE and California) from reading this board frequently.

I've had the exact same problem with tire vibration. I purchased my 2005 TL in Oct 2005, and have complained to the dealer about the rough ride and vibrations from Day 1. In fact, the car's at the dealer at this moment. I want the tires replaced, but they're refusing to do it. Dealer says high performance tires tend to flat spot overnight, which causes it to feel like I have a flat tire every morning. I don't know whether the problem is in the tires or in the car itself. My last car was a 1999 TL and it drove like a dream. The newer generation TL is a good car with a terrible ride. I hate the bumps so much, I'm thinking of selling the car. Any other suggestions as to what to do?

Flat spotting overnight does happen with high performance tires (happens on my Lexus with pirellis). If you want a smooth ride get a "touring" tire. Tires are wear and tear items and your dealer has no responsibility to replace them unless they're defective.

Type S Purchase by snork

After a few months of monitoring these forums, I bought a Type S Saturday in Arlington, Texas from Vandergriff Acura for a base price of $35,236.58 (which included destination) + TTL. The out the door price was $37,702.51 total (Texas tax is 6.25%), and that included wheel locks and Llumar tint, which after one e-mail they threw in for free. Very pleased.

The salesman said the dealership's GM wanted to move cars and was willing to dip into the holdback to do so. Supposedly their "March Madness" deal ended Saturday, but even if the deal is gone, the dealership was pleasant to deal with and it was the easiest car purchase experience I've ever had (even though the pitches from the finance office for all of the options took a while).

I love my new car and it was well worth the short drive from Dallas to get it.

According to Edmunds, it says that the 1.9/3.9 is now good through 4/30. Previously it said it was only til 3/31.

Acura TL w/o nav in Southern NJ- RESALE VALUE by nanyell

Hi! I am new to the board but have been negotiating on a 2007 TL without nav. Best quote I have is 31,400 plus TTL (was told includes dest fee). My concern is the resale value once the 2009 TL comes out. It looks like the 2003 TL only goes for about 13K now. For that reason, I am considering leasing vs buying. Any thoughts???

2006 new or used pricing by drboom

I'm debating between a new 2006 TSX (seems to be >$2k below a new 2007 and basically the same car) or finding a new/used 2006 TL but I'm having trouble finding prices paid for '06 models. Does anyone have an idea what I should expect to pay (I'm in Mass) for a 2006 TL (AT w/o NAV) new (are there any left?) or in like-new ('06 or '07 if there are any on the used market) condition with <15k miles? Thanks for the advice! Jon

I have one with under 4000 miles. I LOVE it! I'm just very regretful that I didn't get the one with the navi. And I've been playing with the idea of selling my car privately and looking for an '06 used with little mileage or an '07 with navi.

You can check on Edmunds price finder to see what each car would be worth. I already called about an '06 with navi. The dealers don't have any left unless someone on this board knows differently.

I live in CT.

That will be one expensive upgrade to sell privately now and rebuy... what do you want for it?
I looked at the edmunds price finder but it doesn't seem terribly accurate given the prices I'm seeing on the price paid tsx board for new cars. edmunds seems to think the used car should be more expensive than what many are paying for their new car.

Based on the board postings, I think I can get a new '06 TSX AT w/o nav for $24,500 or $2k less than an identical '07. I'd love to find a lightly used '05 or later TL that I can get for $26-27k. I think the TL is worth that difference. I see no new '06 TLs around so to buy a new '07 TL is a $7k+ upgrade from a new '06 TSX which is too much. If I can cut the price difference to only $2k or so even though I'd be comparing a new TSX to a lightly used TL, I think the price is worth the upgrade.

Thoughts, opinions, help...
Thanks, Jon
