To the 2008 TL- no. To the 2009 TL (4G)- very likely.

2007 TL buying experience in MN by kon2

Has anybody on this forum bought a 2007 TL (w/ or w/o Nav) close to invoice in MN? I tried to talk to the 3 dealerships in Minneapolis/St Paul area but all of them flat out refused to talk to me any further when I told them I'd buy at invoice. On a separate note - when buying a car out of state - how are the tax and license handled? Thanks a lot for any responses.

Westchester, NY TL Type S buying experience. by 2sunny

On Wednesday March 14th (my birthday) I purchased a silver 2007 TL Type S (with All Season mats included) from Curry Acura in Scarsdale, NY. I originally offered 35,700 and they asked how I came up with that number so I said I had read on this forum that someone in NJ had paid $35000 and had added $700 to that number based on my location and my desire to get the deal done. They said $35,000 was a good number before the 3% increase and countered with $36000. I called the dealer in NJ mentioned in an earlier post and asked about the $35,000 number and the man on the phone quite honestly said their current rock bottom on a TL Type S was $35,885. So I agreed with Curry's offer of $36000.

dealer 36000
NY tax 2655
reg. etc 280

total 38935

I qualified for the 1.9% financing and put $0 down so I walked out the door with a new car for free . . .

2 of Curry's men (call them Mr. Y and Mr. D for this story) were great and bent over backwards to get me the preferred financing and deliver my car on my birthday. The price was more than $1000 less than the next competitive offer. All in all I highly recommend Curry Acura.

Oh and did I mention this car ROCKS!!!

When I bought a car out of state, I paid for a temporary tag from that state, then when i returned home I had to pay the entire TTL when I registered the car. The other option may be to take the sales invoice to your Motor vehicle department and get your tags before hand if your ok buying a car without seeing it first. I would email the dealers back let them know your definitely buying a car and to contact you if they want to sell it. You may have better luck toward the end of the month once they get a handle of their sales volume. There is a glut of TL's in the market now, I'm sure you can find one at or close to invoice.

Nicely done and congrats/happy birthday, 2sunny! My birthday was March 13, no car but a nice day of skiing in New Hampster was my present (for those in New England who are unaware, Wildcat Mtn gives you a free lift pass on your birthday!).

When I bought my '05 TL the week after Christmas '04, I did the same, 0 down with 2.9% financing for 48 months (free car!). Heck, I have a couple of CDs earning almost twice the 2.9%!

The '05 has been lovely, good luck with the '07. I like the changes Acura has made (except possibly the wheels, haven't really had a good look at 'em, though). Have fun, good post.
