| Anyone else told that Acura "doesn't negotiate" the price on the TL? This is an Oregon dealership...anyone have a better buying experience on a TL w/Navigation? Gave me a price of $37,400... | |

So the TL w/NAV at invoice is around 33,600 - 3% holdback (about 1100) which means they would be making a profit of almost 5k if you bought it for $37,400. For that price I would sell you my brand new type-S and make a nice little profit. I think 33k for a TL w/NAV should be your target price. Do not walk in with a chip on your shoulder looking to pick a fight, but be firm. Most of these salespeople are honest and friendly (that is why they are good salespeople) but remember to think of it as A GAME. You can buy a TL w/NAV for 33k and the dealership will make $500 plus whatever options you add (the margin is huge on those), plus whatever warranties you buy (the margin is huge on those), plus kickbacks on financing, plus you add a sale to their books which contributes to all sorts of factory-to-dealer incentives. Anyway, this place had plenty of TL's and I test drove a really nice grey one with Nav that had the "no-haggle" price of around 33,400 (dont quote me on that, but it was around that price and they had a few that were even cheaper). If the "no-haggle" place has prices like that you better believe other dealerships will too.

The cheaper ones had been on the lot longer and there were several of exactly the same type, mostly white. I drove a carbon gray one that I think was priced around 33,600. 2. The Type-S's were plentiful and ranged from 34,999 and up. There were lots to choose from...white and blue seemed to be lowest price. 3. The non-Nav's were not as discounted and it really didnt make much sense to even consider them given how close they were in price to those with Nav. 4. After looking at websites in Austin and Houston I saw a plethora of TL's in inventory...especially the type-S models. Conclusion: Knowing that the "no-haggle" places are almost always overpriced and based on their prices combined with looking at the invoice prices I would say around 33k + TTL for a TL w/NAV and 35k + TTL for a TL-S are reasonable targets to shoot for (at least in this part of the country). |
