It had 62k on it, but we traded it on Friday night for the 06 TL with Nav. Got the new car for 31,7 plus TTL. The only other dealer in the area wanted 31,750 and I didnt think it would go much lower. They upped the ante on the tradein by 1500 bucks which put it within reason of what I wanted to get for the 03 so I gave my wife the go ahead.

The sales guy was real aplogetic over the previous treatment we got and I figured if we went out of town to secure a deal, it probably would have cost us a few bucks extra in travel expenses. Bottom line, wife is happy with her new wheels.

Shoo74,
Sorry for being slow in getting back to you. After I purchased my TL I vowed not to check these forums and read about how the prices continuted to decline!
I ended up purchasing my car from Bloomington Acura just because it is only 5 minutes from my house. Interestingly I never heard back from the internet salesperson at Buerkle in Brooklyn Park. In fact I've heard that it's the same old nonsense over there - the internet salesperon is pushing a demo at an inflated price! It looks like Bloomington Acura only has 6 '06s still on the lot: 4 w/o Nav and 2 with NAV. Of course I cannot "endorse" using the internet salesperson at Bloomington Acura because he wasn't helpful at all. I would just walk in the door and hold out for your price. I can be reached via email if you want more assistance of the name of my salesperson and details of my transaction. -Keith

How can dealer make money by trainjet

Hello,

I am interested in 2006 TL with Nav. On this board, people have been reporting that they got the car for around $30,500. When I asked my dealers about this price, they were saying there is no way they will sell for this price because they will loose money. The calculation is like this

32,700 (invoice) - 1,500 (dealer rebates) = $31,200.

Does anybody know why other dealers can offer $30,500, or loosing $700 a car on those deals?

Thanks

I'm not sure - but I just paid $30,600 for 2006 TL auto w/ nav and wheel locks. OTD $33,444.96. Perhaps some of the dealer holdback is being eroded at that price.

Anthracite Metallic with Ebony interior.

I am very pleased with the car. Thanks to all on these forums for the help.

Good question. I wonder the same thing, too. Other than the hold back, maybe the dealer adds "processing fee" or "advertisement fee" to make up the difference

Thanks for your reply. The VIN tells the approximate "birthday" of your car. By looking at the VIN, you can tell if your car has been sitting in the dealer's lot for months or if your car is a "new arrival" from the factory. I am not going to steal your car, trust me.

Invoice is about $32.8 for an 06 TL w/nav. Assuming a factory incentive of $1.5k and a dealer holdback of $1.1k, the net cost to the dealer is about $30.2k. It is unlikely that a dealer is willing to give up its holdback (in whole or in part), unless he has many TLs sitting in his lot and he has to get rid of them quickly. Several posters had mentioned sub-$30k prices, but when asked to post the final bill of sale, none has come forward with any proof. IMO, the likely scenario of getting a sub-$30k TL is if the car is a demo or a trade-in is used to offset the purchase price.

Kennyg8,

How do you tell the manufacture date from the VIN?

Thanks

Ask the salesperson to show you the inventory list. If they do, notice one of the columns which list the number of days the car has been with the dealership. Buyers will always get the oldest car on the list unless you negotiate for or request the newest one in their inventory. I requested and was shown the list. The oldest was 178 days, newest was 26 days. I told the manager, that the 26 day old car was the "deal maker". They love to hear those two words, so I got what I asked for. Love the car!

PS~If you know you're getting the oldest on the lot, then negotiate for the very best deal. If they don't budge on the price you want, tell them that you them must request that they provide you with the newest car in inventory and you'll need to review their inventory list to confirm before agreeing to their price. Great bargainning tool. Try and let me know. GL
