Bought two cars at Curry Acura, NY by yraghu77

I am from Rochester, NY. My friend and I went to John Holtz acura to buy Acura TL. He wanted one with Navi and i didn't want the navi. After a couple of trips to the dealer, our final offer was $33,700 for Navi (before TTL and document fees) and $31,700 for the one without navi (before tax and other fees). The dealer DID NOT agree to our amazement although we were buying two cars at the same time.

We were really angry, so we decided to buy in some other city and fortunately came across this forum and noticed the price we offered was way above what everybody else is paying. So we decided to checkout Curry Acura in Scarsdale,NY.
The sales executive was really nice and gave me a quote over phone when i explained to him that i don't want to drive 6 hrs just to get a quote. We finalized the price and both of us are going to pick up our cars this saturday.

Final price $29900 + TTL for my car (Anthracite metallic with EBONY) and $32500 + TTL (Black with EBONY) for my friends car. We are very happy to have saved almost 3000 dollars.

Thank you all for the posts. Keep it coming.

I just called Honda Financial Services customer service line, and got the answer to my question. The rep told me that the scoring method they use is different from what the 3 credit bureaus use, and is harsher. So when the dealership told me my Experian score was 685, that's not entirely true. The 685 is based on my Experian score with some extra Honda specific calculations thrown in.

So, paying to see your FICO scores beforehand is a waste because they don't use those. Unfortunately, the only time you'll find out your Honda FICO score is after you've applied for their credit. 5.9% is still probably the best I could have gotten, I just hate being an uninformed consumer that gets surprised right at the time of purchase.

$31,800 before TTL. 2006/anthracite/ebony/nav. They noted the $1000 marketing incentive on the deal. So it was really around invoice w/destination minus the incentive.

I am also in the Twin Cities and would love to hear the resolution/outcome of your situation. I am also in the Market for an '06 TL w/o or w/Nav. I couldn't even get a quote over the internet from Bloomington Acura and Buerkle Acura wouldn't budge lower then 32,500 for the Nav-equipped car which seemed too high to me.

This morning I went into Bloomington Acura to cut a deal assuming that they had a lot of leftover 06s and new 07s and was surprised that they had NO 2007 TLs yet on the lot and not even any literature. They definitely have a lot of leftover 2006 TLs on the lot currently as do the other Twin Cities Acura dealers so I'm guessing prices will come down more as the 07s roll in.

I'm not in a rush so I'll wait for the prices to keep falling.

Muller Woodfield Acura in Hoffman Estates. They have a lot of inventory to choose from and are very nice to work with. I believe if you are really ready to buy like I was they will honor these prices. Don't expect to also deal on a trade though as there is little left for them to deal on the new car side. good luck and let us know how you make out...

OK ALL,

This will probably be my last post in this forum.....THANKS TO ALL THAT HELPED:

Bought the 2006 black on black TL w Nav auto for 32K +TTL at Hillside Acura. The Sales MGR was awesome easy process & pleasant the whole way through. He was originally recc to me by a co-worker. the whole process was a pleasure.

i realize my price was Not as great as some other areas in the country but after 2 months on this forum, I am confident I got as good a deal as I could in the Long Island market. plus I got free oil changes at the dealership which is local for the life of the warranty ( thats gotta be worth at least $300 -10 changes at 30 bucks minimum) so it was worth being close by rather than going to NJ & save 500 bucks IMO

The only thing I would have done differently is bought in late AUgust for the same price & i would have had the 2.9%...4.9% acura financing, but oh well.

Hope this helps you all & good luck

Reonn,
Thanks for the information. I don't understand why they would do it that way. My credit score was good enough to get a great rate to finance my new HOUSE but not good enough for Honda? I don't get it?

Thanks again for the information.

ae9,
Congrats on getting the new TL. I think you got a decent deal considering the convenience of having the dealer in practically your backyard.
I picked up my Black/Camel combination from Rallye just over a week ago for $32,175 plus TTL with only the first oil change thrown in plus wheel locks.

It is a 2005 model with 5800 miles. The car was traded in at a lexus dealer from an older couple who wanted a "softer" ride. The car is in pristine condition. Is this a good buy or should I spend the extra $4000 to get basically the same car. Considering the normal $4000 to $5000 mile depreciation that these cars go through, I would think that it might be worth it, especailly with such miles. Any thoughts
