2006 TL NAV buying experience - repost by tlnav06buyer

Just got my 2006 TL NAV in Royal blue with Quartz from Chevy Chase Acura in Bethesda after waiting 3 months for the new 2006 models. I requested quotes from a bunch of dealers in the area via the internet. Most of the other dealers in the area did not respond or came back with nonsense designed to get me in so they could pull the standard tricks.

The internet sale mgrs (sorry no names, rule 6) of Chevy Chase Acura (Bethesda, MD) and Criswell Performance Cars (Annapolis, MD) both responded promptly with very good prices. Both quotes were easy to understand and provided out the door pricing per my request. Good job guys. Too bad the other dealer had such a hard time with such a simple request.

The Chevy Chase internet sale manager was the first to respond so I talked to him first. The guy really knows the Acura and Honda product line and had lot's of 1st hand knowledge with both (loves his Ridgeline P/U). I found him to be very straightforward and honest, and we were able to work out the details quickly to get a great out the door price.

I drove over and picked up my car yesterday and it's great. Love the Royal Blue, looks great day or night.

As a tip to those of you who finance most of your purchase. If your car is distroyed within the early period of ownership, the insurance companies will only pay you the market value of your car... NOT WHAT YOU OWE. This can be a large amount if you finance 100% and wreck your car in the first year.

Welcome to Gap Insurance. Everybody seems to sell it so I went to my State Farm agent, it only costs me around $2 per month extra and I can remove it at any time. Just a tip for those of you. I financed 100% due to Acuras 3.9% interest rate.

DFW dealers, who is best to deal with by hostage46

I'm close to pulling the trigger on a TL. I've been to MacDavid in Plano where I drove a '05 and Churchhill in Fort Worth and took a spin in the 06. Poor old guy at Churchill couldn't handle all the features and wasted valuable driving time trying to get the blue tooth to work, I told him his competition was able to get my Treo to pair just fine and we moved on

Last time I bought a car (Oddesy for my wife) I just called around for good deal and went in to pick up the new car.

Still trying to decide between lease (closed or open) and buy. Curious what folks are getting an '06 TL Auto/Navi out the door for (including TTL).

Heck with Southwest here, I'll fly out and drive back for a good deal, that would be fun!

Halloween special offer was 33,440 (MSRP-2500), tax is 2090 and T+L cost 260. I am in Dallas and there are 4 dealers in DFW metroplex. Talking to these guys added carbon fiber steering wheel, tint and wheelocks for 210 more, total price of 36,000. All accessories are being installed as new.

hostage46, see the prices on my post. I liked McDavid and Vandergriff. Keep talking to these guys. I felt like Goodson Acura was not trustworthy and the salesmen not very friendly.

.. **If your car is destroyed within the early any period of ownership, the insurance companies will only pay you the market value of your car... NOT WHAT YOU OWE** ...

No kidding, welcome to the planet earth...!

But it's a a very good reminder though and most folks do forget about Gap on financed vehicles, especially if there was a trade involved ... it's the cheapest insurance you can buy for potentially a very costly mistake ...

              Thanks for the reminder ....

I bought from Goodson and they were pretty solid (the internet sales guy is not the F&I guy though). I definitely received the hands down best, most desperate bid from Vandergriff. I personally had nothing but high bids and arguements about how they are "as low as we can go without going out of business"...

Good luck hostage46. I agree that there are so many dealerships nearby (check FW also) that you can really haggle down to a good price. I think $33,400 is very good for an '06.

I was just noticing, this TL forum is reaching its 5000th message, and the guy who created this topic only logged in once and posted one message back in July 2003. I wonder if he knows how fun its gotten in here!

Seeing as how I am a respected engineering professional, I don't need someone to refer to me as an idiot by your commented edit of "No kidding, welcome to planet earth". I don't know who you are or who you THINK you are but you have no business editing my post with your personal comments. Either add your own or delete mine. Your lack of maturity is obvious.

Unfortunately you have just placed this forum in the trash so I’m out thanks to you.

Seeing as how I have never had to deal with any insurance claims, I was under the belief that my extra coverage would supply "replacement value" as my homeowners does...
that is WHY I BOTHERED TO INFORM OTHERS !

Thanks for ruining what I thought was a good forum.
