This is in Virginia at the Radley dealer on Columbia Pike is Falls Church VA.
It's a business license tax of some sort. I think like .01%. Processing fee is high but I figure with the oil changes and state inspections make up for it.

What is a good price for '05 TL with Navi in NYC area? by stefystef

I've been shopping around for the Black TL Navi (manual transmission) for a while now and I have a tight budget to work with. I got a quote from Acrua Valley Stream for $32,989.

I was trying to wait until the end of the year to see if I could pick up something on the cheap.

Has anyone out there gotten a TL w/Navi closer to $30,000 in the NYC/Tri-State Area? Acually, I'm trying to stay around $30,000 with all the taxes and other charges added. Am I being delusional? Since the dealers are going to need to start pushing the '06, I was hoping to get something I want for much less.

Any suggestions out there? Thanks!

Just bought exactly that car, off the lot, at $33K in Maryland, black outside, parchment, manual transmission.

You MIGHT shave a few hundred off and get near invoice.
TL with Nav for 30K = delusional indeed (maybe free wheel locks but free Nav?!)
TL no Nav for 30K = closer to reality (on a good day)

I just purchased an 05 Anthracite/Ebony TL w/o nav. from Classic in Beaumont. I had negotiated w/ Gillman and John Eagle in Houston and could only get them down to $31,400. I made a much better deal at Classic......... If you are interested in more details, please contact me. They still have 05 Black/Ebony, Silver/Ebony, and a few white ones

Congratulations on the 06. For a car in transit with so few on the lot - and for Seattle - it sounds pretty good.

I was leaning toward a 05 however I think I'll hold off as pricing this year on 06's appears more competitive than 05 pricing last year at the same.

thanks for the update & let me know how you like the car.

I'm waiting for '06 for preferred color combo.
If 31.4 (about 700 over invoice) for TL noNav at Gillman and Eagle was too high, what was your selling price at Classic? Any special tactics would be of interest; Classic is closer to me than Houston dealers.

I first starting looking at Acura's a week ago, after assuming for some time I was going to buy an Infiniti. After one test drive, I knew the Acura TL had it all over the Inf G35, and my wife and daughter were totally snowed by the Acura, even though I still liked the exterior stying on the G35 better. But insider I had to admit the Acura was much better arranged and comfortable. I test drove the Acura on Thursday 10/13 at ChevyChaseAcura in Bethesda, Md. The saleswoman, who claimed to have lived in Japan for many years, seemed helpful and I told her she would likely see me again on Saturday, when I planned to make my decision and my purchase. Early Saturday morning I dropped her a note telling her exactly what I wanted and that I was willing to pay $32,500 off the lot price. . I then dropped off a similar note to the infiniti salesman, except in that note I did not name a price, but asked for his best offer on the G35. I did it this way because the Acura was the car i wanted and I didn't want to be making an offer on the Infiniti, while I was predisposed to offer to buy the TL. By 3 pm I had not heard back from either of them. I was a little surprised and getting restless as I had it in my mind to have this done that day. Instead of sitting by the phone I drove out to another Acura dealer in Gaithersburg Md., Rosenthal Acura. I was told that the only 2005's left were sticks, and they had completely sold out of all other 2005s. He quickly and without prompting gave me a price for the 2006 of 37K. I told him I was committed to not paying a penny more than 33K. While I was out there, the salesgirl from the first dealer finally called my cell. She said $32,500 was completely ridiculous proposition and I would never find a TL that cheap. I said I had consulted many Acura purchasers and I thought that was very realistic for a 2005 w/navigation. She said I should make that arugment to the manager directly as it would mean more coming from me. I took that to mean she was out of the loop and there was no point dealing with her or talking to her. As a former MG owner, I asked the salesman at Rosenthal if I could try out the stick. He quickly wheeled a demo around and it handled beautifully and I remembered the satisfaction and joy that can only come from driving a car with a stick. But I went home that night without a car, because he only had black and the wife didnt want that color.
On Sunday night, the Rosenthal salesman called and said someone who had just bought a gold TL w/nav had turned it back it, decided to buy an "06. I said I would come out on Monday afternoon and look at it. Before I did, I went back to see the manager of Chevy Chase Acura, because it seemed they had a larger inventory (guess why) that Rosenthal. I asked the manager if e had a 2005 that would suit me and that I was willing to pay $33K for it, total cost. He said that was ridiculous and turned back to what he was doing.
The salesman at Rosenthal took me to the lot to show me the gold car with automatic. I said I was still interested in the black exterior stick. (I had convinced the wife that with the parchment interior, the black exterior would look great and she relented, she just didnt want black in and out). I decided at that point that i didnt love the gold, especially after the salesman said that the guy who turned it back had decided HE didn't like the color. A few moments later I had bought the car at the price I had in mind all along. The guys at Rosenthal couldn't have been any nicer, I never felt they were playing any games, and they seemed motivated to sell cars. I understood now why they had no 2005 cars and Chevy Chase had many. And that, as they say, is the rest of the story.
