Looking at 05 TL/Nav have dealt with two dealerships over the internet and finally went to one-both in Dallas. Goodson Acura offered $500 above invoice in July- I passes as I was not ready to buy then. In first week of september, offered $400 below invoice-but still not ready. Macchurchill- no internet quote given, but said they would beat any price. Finally ready. I went there last night. I want the WDP/Parchment- no stock-only Black/Camel with Nav 32900+TTL. Have a trade of 1999 F-150 EXT cab 119,000-offered $4500. Since not the color combo I wanted said when 06's come in next week would sell for $35,450- $500 off invoice. E-mailed Goodson as soon as I got home. Came back today with WDP/Parchment NAV $33,318. 3 weeks ago $400 below invoice(31585) Gonna go to dealer tomorrow and offer 32500(100 below invoice). How does that sound, because I have no problem walking. P.S. Black/Camel looked sweet- but shows dirt way to bad-anyone seen the ABP- not many here in Dallas. |

Thanks mldj98, liferules, vrsc , troytn achenator . Closest places to me are Shreveport and Houston (4 hour drives). My biggest problem is the trade in - impossibe to do at a distance like that. I will pass this along though. Two ways to tell the true value of your trade: 1) See what the internet sites are selling them for at the dealers' sites. (You wouldn't believe the look I get when they downplay the value of my vehicle by $4000 and then show them the same vehicle with the same or more miles for MORE than what I'm asking. The jaws really drop an they get quiet, only they don't budge or say "You're right. You should try to sell it yourself". The other way is the MONTHLY NADA book, not the quaterly one. They try to misdirect you to Kelly Blue Book, but that is a site owned by dealers. NADA by the way stands for National Automotive Dealers Association. Most Credit Unions have this book (TELCO in BR) and there is a front page chart to deduct mileage in addition to a page specifically for what it's worth by year. Also interesting to see a loan value, trade in and retail. If the dealers want to retail you the new car, always say sure, we'll go retail on my trade. If you're buying used, loan value is what the car is worth, period. Sounds like I may try Metairie to see what they have and IF they will deal. The Baton Rouge Acura folks are clearly taking advantage of the Hurricane situation, which to me ought to be illegal. Maybe Acura is not the car to have. Will keep you all posted.

I am serious about getting a 2005 TL w/Navi right now if I can get a decent price. I have been reading all of the posts and I keep seeing prices well below invoice according to Edmunds.com ($33,712). I'm having a hard time trying to get a dealer to go for anything near invoice let alone under. I have told them that the deals are out there for $32,500 and that is what I am willing to pay with no extras. They won't budge and claim that their invoice is $32,980 and that they need $33,480 to make $500. I have gone up to $33,000 so far with no deal. Plus I can't seem to get any concession to their $388 doc fee. They claim that "corporate" sets this and they are unhappy but that is the way it is. I think that this is just more dealer built in profit but I'm not sure. I told them thanks for their time and walked out. No follow up or anything. I sort of expected a let's talk a little more at the last minute since I told them I didn't have a trade in and could set a deal immediately (I have the funds to make the deal myself or will consider a great finance deal). This is in the Phoenix metro area and I am wondering if these under invoice deals with extras are made up as these dealers claim or how in the world are they able to sell at below invoice? Can someone enlighten me?

In negotiating a price for a new 2005 TL I wouldn't mind getting a rear wing spoiler. I keep getting quoted $799 installed. I did a double take since the Acura build site shows $599 plus install. The dealers claim that they will sell the wing for $635 plus $164 install since they have to re-spring the trunk lid. What have others paid to get a wing added to a TL deal?

I recently purchased a 05 TL and the dealer threw in wheel lock nuts. I was looking at my wheel nuts and noticed one of the nuts require a star tool to remove. Is this the normal location to install the lock bolts? Is the wrench included in the trunk? BTW, no problems and really enjoy this car

| I just wanted to thank everyone who posted there quotes for new Acura TLs, it was very helpful when preparing to buy one. I just purchase a '05 6-speed manual with nav, Silver/Ebony, in Seattle and paid $33,500 plus TTL. It was pretty tough to get them down that far. The '05 6-speeds with Nav were pretty hard to find. Only one of the three dealers in the area had them. Anyways it's a done deal and now it's time to enjoy my new Acura with no regrets. | |
