Thanks Zeak. I've contacted Pohanka but they want me to come visit them instead of e-mailing a price. I've explained that I live in Richmond and don't have the time to drive up there unless I know in advance that they are going to be on the lower side of the offers. Hopefully, they will respond.

I am quite certain that "Acura Care" warranties - the only official extended warranty offered by Acura - can be purchased at any time up until the car is 2 years old or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first.

They can also be purchased from any Acura dealer, so you might want to Google around. The prices I was quoted over the internet were a few hundred less than my dealer offered at the time aI purchased the car. I thought the longest warranty they offered was 7 years / 100k miles. Did you buy an Acura Care warranty for 8 years / 100k miles. If so, $1,300 doesn't sound like too bad of a price, but I would shop around nonetheless. And you might still want to consider banking your money for the next two years before buying the warranty. I'm coming up on 20,000 miles on my 2004 TL 6-speed, so I will need to make a decsion soon myself.

Hi
I've been reading the different boards for the past month, and I want to say Thanks! to everyone for all of their help. I couldn't really find the color I wanted, Red w/Parch, in the 2005 model. My local dealer knew I was looking and that price was a big factor. I have put a deposit down on a 2006 TL w/ Navi for $500 over invoice that should be due at the end of October. I can get excited now.
I believe my dealer will honor his written quote but if I have any suprises I will let you know. BTW I also get "tires for life".
Again, Thanks for all the input, you've been really helpful.

Mgordon1,

Wow! $500 over invoice on an '06! I am incredulous. That's a great deal. Try to get it in writing with all the specifics so they can't pull any last minute changes on you... If you have a direct written agreement with all the specifics (year, nav or no nav, fees, and total) you will have more "weight" should you need to argue the price with the GM...

I believe you win the gold star for 1st '06 price posted...

Congrats!

You're paying $500 over invoice for an '06 and you also get "tires for life"? Is he throwing in the Brooklyn Bridge? It's too good to be true. Something's missing here.

Gosh I hope you're wrong. He checked with the GM before he agreed to this price.
I have the quote written as $500 over invoice with my $1000 deposit receipt. I also was quoted the price I asked for on the rear spoiler (installed $604) and the mud guards, all season mats, and trunk tray for $246.84. I originally had a $500 over deal on a 2005 but he couldn't come up with a color I could live with. I think he knew I had another dealer who had a car combo that I liked. He told me it wouldn't cost me much more for a 2006 , so I asked for the same deal.
I hope that I won't be disappointed.

...... Lets hope he gets his price ... as you know, there's always a little "smoke and mirrors" with some of the prices that get posted here .....

I hope you get the deal. He promised you $500 over invoice, but did he tell you what his invoice is? In other words, what price are you paying for the car? Sometimes dealers have a very different invoice figure than buyers, often padded. Check with him again and let us know.

The invoice for the '06 with NAV is probably around $32,800, including destination; for the '06 without NAV, it's about 30,979, including destination. These are rough figures because I don't think invoice figures have been released yet for the '06.

If it were me, I would cancel the extended warranty, get the $1300 back and invest it in a short term conservative vehicle (e.g. CD). As rates rise and CD matures, reinvest. Keep it invested for as long as you own the TL, that way if you have a major repair after the warranty expires (possible, but given Acura/Honda reliability history, unlikely) you still have YOUR $1300 + interest to pay for the repair. If no major repair is necessary post-warranty, guess what? YOU still have YOUR money!!! Not the warranty company...

Theoretically, if you can average 9%/yr. return for 8 years, you'll double your $1300. Investing conservatively in today's climate won't get you 9% unfortunately. I've never had an extended warranty and, (I know I'm lucky. Knock wood!) never needed one. And I've owned a Chrysler and a Saab! (loved 'em both. At 80,000+ miles, Saab needed some work, but nowhere near $1300 worth...).

Good luck. Maybe check the Acura website regarding buying the extended warranty, when you can purchase. Don't trust the finance guy, he knows if you don't buy it at that moment, you probably won't buy...

I just spoke to my salesman and he assures me that they are "above board" on this deal. He does not have an invoice yet so he can not give me an exact price. Previously we agreed on the invoice price of the 05 and today he assured me again, that the only increase in price would be the increase in the 2006 model , which I told him I expected it to be $225. I will be pleasantly suprised if there are no suprises, and will enjoy my TL even more if this deal goes through. We' ll see.
I guess I'll just have to trust my salesman.
