Hi all, Like many of you, I used this forum to help me with my recent TL purchase. In appreciation for the info I used, I wanted to share with you about our experience. We live in a remote part of CA, nearest Acura dealers are minimum 2 hour drive. We had test driven one back in spring, and had decided we wanted a Black/black w/o navigation. After seeing on the board last week that the 06's were coming in within a couple of months, on Friday evening I sent quote requests to Stevens Creek, Seaside, Fresno, Bakersfield, Ventura, Calabasas, and Santa Monica. I never heard from Fresno, Bakersfield, or Stevens Creek. From the board I gleaned that the Bay Area was quite a bit higher than LA, so didn't expect to go there. Instead of a quote, I received an invite from Seaside to come up and test drive the car. Sounded pretty sleazy, I just replied that we weren't going anywhere until we had a firm deal. Never heard back. Basically same response from Ventura. Nothing much happened on Saturday. Sunday morning as I prepared to mow the lawn the wife yelled out the door "hey looks like we're going to LA today". We had received a quote from Santa Monica for $29,999, including destination which was about $1250 less than what I was hoping to pay. Also rec'd a quote from Calabasas about $1500 higher, when I called him and told him the Santa Monica quote he told me he couldn't match. I called Keyes and they offered to beat the price from Santa Monica, which had went down to $29760. The manager from Keyes confirmed they would beat the $29760. For us, Keyes would save about 1.5 hours in the car roundtrip vs. Santa Monica, so I was not going to quibble too much if they only beat by $1. We got there after a horrible traffic-filled ordeal and the car had wheel locks and splash guards, which they didn't tell us and then they raised their quote by ~$300 to cover those additions. My wife flipped out. The problem was that it was later than we had wanted and we were going to have problems getting over to Santa Monica to close a deal with hungry kids, etc etc. I also did want the tire locks (mud guards neutral), so we finally got them to agree to $32400 out the door (our sales tax rate is 7.25%). The manager comes back and says they need to make it $32459. I couldn't believe they were quibbling over $60. However, we had no leverage at that point and we were getting a price below what we had imagined, so I said ok. They offered some sales BS about how they were losing money, etc. and I was thinking "how can you lose money and be building this huge brand new facility across the street" but I didn't say anything. The only thing I can think of is we weren't financing with them, and we used a credit card for part of the down payment, and I think they knew we weren't going for an extended warranty, paint protection, etc. so they had no way of making more money from us. So in conclusion, we got a better price than we intially expected once we decided to buy the TL. I didn't think that Keyes was as up front as I would have liked. Just from correspondence and phone conversations I think Santa Monica would have been more straight up (?), but we couldn't justify the extra driving time to give them our business. |

Does anyone know what the "paint polish" package is? I was offered a quote from one of the SoCal dealers for a '05 TL Auto w/ Nav that includes the "paint polish" package at no additional cost. |

Replying to: levy (Aug 29, 2005 6:44 am) I ended up pulling the trigger. $411 per month (plus tax) for 42 months with $1560 down (plus first payment). I was OTD for 2K and my payment is $440 (with tax). It was through Honda of America 12K miles per year and no fee at return of lease. It was Black w/ Camel, Auto, Navi. I am pretty sure I got them to actually go below the invoice. I know finance managers are usually not looking out for the "buyer's" best interest, but even he couldn't beleive the dealership did the deal. It was Baranco in South Atlanta. |

Replying to: acura_tl (Aug 30, 2005 8:22 pm) I picked up my new Silver '05 TL, auto, navi today at Northeast Acura in Latham, NY. I paid $32,995 and they threw in wheel locks (I asked for trunk tray and splash guards also but couldn't get them). They are the only local dealer so I emailed about a dozen within 75-125 miles (downstate NY, CT, NJ and MA) through acura.com. The quotes I got ranged from $32,695 to $33,900. The lowest quote was from Ramsey, NJ but I decided it wasn't worth the 2 hour drive to save $300. |
