The price is good...but could be about $300-500 high when considering the car plus accessories.

The 'accessories' indicated is the so called 'protection package' and if you get quotes from other dealers...many times it is already included in their pricing. So verify your other quotes. No matter...it is a decent price you have...fair. Just make sure to cross compare to other competing Acura dealers.

Hey thanks delmar1.

I indicated the accessories when I sent for a quote request. Should I leave the accessories out, and just mention the "protection package"? Or just leave it out entirely, and don't mention the accessories?

Will the dealers mention the "protection package"?

Basically, how should I approach/ask the dealers and make it so that they will include the accessories when they reply with a quote?

Thanks again.

Graffixx,

I am currently negotiating in the SoCal market and am fairly certain you can do better at either the Santa Monica dealership and Van Nuys (Keyes) dealership. Rates there with mud guards and tire locks w/ navigation are about $31,500 (including destination minus TTL). You may want to email their "internet sales reps." Only thing I'm not too sure about is the financing I'm afraid.

Many thanks to Delmar1, jbdriver, and other socal'ers in this forum. I'm close to closing my deal and will provide details once its done -- don't want to jinx anything.

Hope that helps....

utc2, thanks for the tip.

I've already sent a few requests for quotes to a few other dealers around the LA area so I will see what numbers they come back with.

There have been a couple of posts from other so cal'ers who have gotten their cars at around the price you've indicated.

Good luck on closing your deal. I look forward in seeing the details. Thanks.

I received an email from Gillman Acura this morning offering in-stock TL's without Nav for $31,3000 +TTL (with NAV $33,000 +TTL). The offer will expire after tomorrow.

They also said if I got a better offer from another Houston area dealer to let them know.

This quote for a TL without Nav was $100 less then I got from them a few days ago, and they said they were ofiering that price because I have bought 4 vehicles from Gillman dealerships over the past 19 years.

'graffixx'...my suggestion when requesting a quote....to indicate specifically what car, what tranny, colors, nav or non-nav. Let them quote you then at that point inquire if the protection package is included and what it contains. By not mentioning the protection package in your request, you are getting the true bare bones quote from the dealer.

Then after getting that...then start talking about the protection package [btw...the protection package is great. Wheel locks are good as you never want to lose a rim and tire even if parked in a 'good area'. Splash guards are great to keep the car cleaner and avoid rock throws. Trunk tray is a great contraption that I will need in future cars]. If it turns out that the price of the package is too extreme (you really should be considering the package value to be about $225-300)...then go ahead and buy it after-market from the dealer or from that website that advertises here and installing the parts yourself).

Just to point this out... Purchasing Acuras are much easier than other makers since pretty much everything is included. If you buy other makers...you have to deal with all these weird packages and start to buy things you don't need or want. I hope everyone agrees with that.

'utc2'... Appears you are in San Diego. Glad you are considering buying from the L.A. market as the San Diego dealers are over $1,000 higher. Hopefully our revolt here will improve the San Diego market pricing in the future.

However for Graffixx...I suggest not only expanding your search to Santa Monica and Keyes...but to others. As mentioned in the past...not everyone will get the same deal from the same dealer. So it sure doesn't hurt to check around.

A note to all buyers in the So Cal (specifically Anaheim area). Weir Canyon will will weasel out of their price guarantee. DO NOT BUY YOUR TL (or any other Acura for that matter) FROM WEIR CANYON!
When I sent out my request for quote, they said that they would meet or beat the price on the car I wanted or give me $500. Well, they didn't have the car I wanted, but I told their internet guy that I would wait for one to come in if he could meet or beat the price since they were closer to where I live. He said he couldn't beat the offer I was getting for Keyes and said that there was no way Keyes could sell it to me at that price because they would be losing money, and that he as an honest salesman would sell it to me over invoice and make sure that I was well taken care of. What a bunch of crap. Unfortunately, most of the conversations that prove that I said that I would wait and that they could not meet the price I got from Keyes, happened over the phone, so I do not have any more e-mail proof. But, 2 weeks later and this is the reply that I get about their price guarantee:
Since you were unwilling to wait for one to come in--and you did not put a deposit down on one--that voided our price guarantee. Our guarantee was on units we had in stock and we have only had a few TL's with Navi over the last few months.
Regardless of whether or not I said I would wait for one to come in, their orginal e-mail about their price guarantee says nothing about the unit having to be in stock..and that I can prove.

Whoever it was who was complaining about car salesman being called unethical should take a look at a prime example of why people think this sort of thing. I realize that you are not all this way (since I actually had a good experince at Keyes, where I got my TL) so I will not generalize, but you have to at least realize why people think this.

delmar1,
you are correct. I am your neighbor to the south I think. Anyways, I agree that graffixx should price around the entire area. For whatever reason (?large volumes) it seems like the Santa Monica dealership and the Van Nuys dealerships are offerring >$1000 off invoice with mud guards and tire locks but excluding trunk liner I think. SD market is horrible! Cheapest quoted rates were actually >$2000 over the LA market. I'll give a list of all my quotes (about 10 dealreships) if and when I can close my deal. I was fortunate to stumble across this forum and in doing so probably saved myself over $1000. Thanks all.
