Thank you so much, montgomctymd!!

I live in Frederick, MD and work at Bethesda, MD. I had some families coming from out of town this past weekend and I didn't make it to their "red tag sale" at Rosenthal Acura.

The internet quote I got from Rosenthal Acura (8/20 Saturady) is $33,670 (including $570 destination) for TL w/ Nav. So you are doing really GREAT and now I know what to ask for!! So thanks again!!

Yup, their price is the lowest around here in LA. I got my TL with navi fm them a couple of days before they went this low...paid $300 more. However, I had a trade and this is where I haggled with them. In the end, they offered more than what I was getting fm other dealers so I was happy.

I WAS MISTAKEN ABOUT....... & VERY DISAPPOINTED by ggesq

This really pertains to buyers in Florida:

I want to retract one of my earlier posts in regards to my positive buying experience with ACURA OF SOUTH FLORIDA.

About a month ago, I bought my TL Blue/ Camel w/ Navigation from ACURA OF SOUTH FLORIDA in Hollywood, Florida for $35,629.00. This price included a nose mask & gap insurance.

When I initially negotiated the car, the sales rep and I agreed on a OTD price of $34,646.00 ( transfer tag). However, when I got to the dealership and in the finance manager's office, I added gap insurance and a full nose mask and ended up getting a new registration as opposed to a transfer of tag. This brought my (SHOULD HAVE ACTUALLY PAID) price up to $35,425.00.
This breaks down as:
34,646- price of the car OTD
495.00- Gap
169- Bra
115- Difference between new tag & transfer
________
35,425.00

However, I did not realize the final number on the finance contract was 35,629.00 which was $204 more than what I should have paid. I went ahead without realizing and signed the paperwork and drove the car home. When I got home, I realized the mistake. As a consequence, I contacted my sales associate and was assured everything would be taken care of and the money would be refunded back to me.

While this was going on, my inherent trust in people to follow through with their word compelled me to give positive feedback to American Honda, Edmunds Forums as well as Acura in regards to my "positive" experience.

After one whole long month of phone calls, messages, etc., I finally concluded this saga. I had a conference call today with my sales rep, General Manager, Sales Manager and Finance Manager. Everyone TRIED to convince me that the figure was accurate and that I was mistaken in believing that when you purchase a car everyone pays Doc stamp/ fees.
I TRIED convincing them all that I received a quote in writing that my OTD price including everything would be $34,646 ( and that included doc stamps/ fees). A reasonable person would assume that included everything???

Further, they maintained that everyone pays doc stamp/fees ON TOP of the quoted amount WHEN YOU FINANCE A CAR. That being said, my sales rep as well as the finance manager knew at least one week prior to me driving 3.5 hours to their dealership that I would be financing. Obviously, I relayed that to them but I guess I was speaking Egyptian because my quoted price, on paper, OTD, APPARENTLY did not include doc stamp/ fees.

I made all of them a suggestion. One of which was that in the future they should advise their customers, whether on paper or verbally, that their quote OTD was not inclusive, and that they would end up paying a "doc stamp/fee."
I additionally posed the question, " Is it is worth it to you to have a unsatisfied customer who may / may not got a great deal on car to walk away from your dealership vowing never to do business again either thorugh purchasing or servicing?" Their answer- they did not care.

Look, putting aside the $200 something dollars, I did get a deal on the car ( at least IMO). I got the TL I wanted in the color combo I wanted and I have absolutely no issues with the car.
Will I contact AMFC and change my opinion?- YES
Will I contact Acura of America and change my opinion?- YES
I will never purchase another car or service my car at that dealership.
Does OTD pricing which includes everything written on paper according to Acura of South Florida actually mean everything?- NO

I guess this is one of those stories that you hear about when dealers add on fees once you get to the dealership ( or after the deal us done in my case) .

Well, I will wind up this long tear-jerker. Thanks for taking the time to read my "Venting." Any thoughts or comments are welcomed.

BTW, they actually had the nerve to thank me for sending them a customer from this forum. Someone actually printed out my post and brought it to them and apparently, the customer brought from them as a result of my post. I am glad that someone did benefit from my posting and I hope they got the deal without the hassle that I faced.
They ( all the managers) actually asked me, " Why did you say good things about us if you are so unhappy?" My response was- "because I believe people are inherently good and follow through with their word. You have done nothing to lose my trust and I tried to help others as well as your dealership out from my own goodwill." No response to that statement....

For those of you considering this dealer for your next purchase- you might or might not get a good deal; watch your 6 when you get a quote for "EVERYTHING OTD."

Regards,
Joe

I am getting the TL soon and I know the dealer is going to try selling me the 7yr/100K Acuracare warranty. I think I'll likely keep the car 6-7 years. Is it worth it? What has been other people's experience? I'll really appreciate your input.

juliemd - You're quite welcome. Best of luck with your negotiations. Rosenthal had about 30 TL's in their storage lot on Saturday, so hopefully they're eager to sell one to you. Let us know how you end up doing (even if you get a better price than I did!).

For those of you who already own a TL, do you think there's any value in getting the body side molding? Does it really help prevent scratches and dings or is it only an opportunity for the dealer to make additional $? Thanks in advance for any opinions.

We don't really know what " $34,281.34 OTD. Including mud guards, wheel locks, etc" means because we don't know the TTL rates wherever you are.

Can you give us the price before TTL?

Thanks

Hi there,

What kind of pricing are people seeing in the Houston area and from which dealerships?

Also, awilksta, which dealership offered you 33000 plus TT&L?

I live in Louisiana and the prices here suck.

Thanks.
