Acura buying in PA by depcs

I have been watching this message board for a few weeks and would like to say thanks for all of the advice. My buying experience was easy because of it.
I decided on a TL w/o navi in black with the camel interior. I emailed eleven dealers within a two hour drive from where I live in Harrisburg, PA, including the Washington/Baltimore area. Most got back to me within a day with a price which ranged from 31,953 to 30, 900. I then shopped the lowest price around by email and got an offer of 30, 700 from Jones Acura in Lancaster PA (about an hour from me). Other dealers offered to match my best offer. My local dealer, Bobby Rahal in Mechanicsburg had one of the higher initial offers but I went back to the salesperson who had helped us with the test drive and with very little discussion they matched the price. I ended up adding wheel locks, splash guards, floor mats and the trunk liner for an additional $193 bringing my total price to 30,893 before TTL.. I highly recommend contacting the internet sales people of several dealerships and playing them against each other. This has been by far my best car purchase experience. Now I just have to wait for the car to be delivered.

Just started negotiating a deal for a TL w/o navi. Best offer so far among 3 dealers is $31,159 w/ protection package & a doc fee of $350. Seems a little high compared to what others are paying but I haven't pushed too hard yet. I'm curious what others are paying for doc fees. I assume that this is just additional dealer profit.

Not necessarily money out the window. It's kinda like an insurance policy: You're betting something will go wrong, hence you buy the insurance. Acura is betting they won't have to pay for a major incident, hence they're selling the insurance. Also, the money will be invested, just by whom and hence who reaps that benefit depends on your action.

Knock wood, I guess I've been lucky. Never needed an extended warranty on anything (at least that I can remember?). Hmmm, my day may be coming!

Even though you bought the warranty, here's to never needing to use it!

Enjoy!

Brewtoo, what dealer and city did you purchase your 05' TL w/Nav? I am in Pensacola, FL and do not see too many deals in my neck of the woods. Thanks.

Six,

I live in Tampa, Florida and bought my TL at Acura of South Florida in Hollywood. If this is too far from you, I highly recommend buying from Acura of Orange Park in Jacksonville. Great people, communication, Internet Dept, and PRICE!!!. Both dealerships are about 4 hours drive from me but I chose to buy from Acura of South Florida solely because my parents live down there and I thought of knocking out two birds with one stone- visit the parents; buy the TL at a decent price. Acura of Orange Park is probably much closer to you than the one in South Florida. BTW, I got the Blue/ Camel with Navi for $31,802 + TT & fees. Acura of Orange Park was very close in their pricing as well. Hope this information helps and good luck!

Joe, thanks much for your recommendation. I will get quotes from both for sure. I can vacation in Daytona or Miami, so the location in Florida is not too important to me. I have requested a quote from both Jax and Hollywood. Thanks again.

Anyone had a recent experience buying an 05 TL/Auto/Navi in Colorado?

I'm just starting to look -- trying to get reasonable price expectations.
The prices on this forum people are getting in CA recently are pretty
good (seeing lots at invoice or slightly below).

Thanks!

Yeah, our Acura dealer didn't arrange the shipping either, but she was the point of contact for when they picked it up. She recommended a couple of shipping companies to us, but we went with Angel's Auto Shipping based on the number of good reviews we saw. I must admit that so far we are impressed. We arranged it last Thursday and told them not to get it any earlier than Saturday. They came on Saturday and our salesperson signed off and got the car on the truck. They should be delivering it tomorrow morning! Less than a week after we called them, we will have our car!

Yeah I had problems myself finding a good price up here. The best I could find was from Acura of Bellevue for $33,700 through the internet salesman. I told them the prices I was quoted from California and they told me to definitely jump on them because they were so great. Actually one Bellevue saleman (not internet) played the dumb route. I told him I got a quote for a Manual TL w/ navigation for $31,800 and he had mentioned he could meet or beat any price. He said "great, come on down." I thought I would clarify first and said "This is for a manual, correct? Also, this does include navigation?" He writes back "You didn't want navigation, did you?"

Anyways, we ended up buying our from Cali and shipping it up here.. Ended up being much cheaper than buying up here. I would recommend checking it out. Shipping is costing us $750 to ship from San Francisco area to Seattle. All we have to pay to the Cali dealer is cost of car + doc fee and that's it. You pay WA taxes and license once you register it up here.
