Any Louisiana TL owners out there? by samuelh

Hi there,

I currrently live in Lafayette, La, am looking to purchase a 2005 TL with NAVI.
The price quote I received from Acura, Baton Rouge was $35232 with deck lid spoiler, NOT including TTL. This seems a little high.
Just wondering where TL owners in Louisiana might have purchased their vehicles.

Thanks in advance for any information.

The question was " does the tax get added on the end or before the "fees" are tacked on? "

Taxes are on 'purchase price" of the car + documentation processing fee + smog fees (which should be zero for a new car). Think of it this way....not on license fees...as that would be double taxation.

That was in Arlington, Texas, which is near Dallas. I bought it from Vandergriff Acura, and had no issues after we agreed on a price. I negotiated through email and phone and had Vandergriff and McChurchill competing against each other. It seems that they do the window tinting on all cars, and I think all come with wheel locks. I wasn't interested on the trunk mat, so didn't made a big fuzz about that. So I pretty much worked on the price, and made sure I had tinted windows. I found them to be fair and pretty straight forward. Just make sure you get everything on paper once you reach an agreement. If you are traveling from far away, get an email from them detailing colors and options included, base price, and OTD price. They will ask you for a deposit, which is ok, but ask them to send you that email in return before you go pick it up. The internet manager was really good, he even picked me up at the airport, and he gave me very good service with no hasstle.

That is too high. However, I live in Northern Califronia with many Acura dealers to bargain with. Simply contact another dealer on the internet and see if they will beat that offer. I believe that price is MSRP, you can do better than that. Good luck.

I was referring to post #3923, your price is great. Sam said the dealer offered him a TL for over 35k, not OTD. I thought he could do better than that.

ISO '05 5AT w/ Navi, PP2 and Rear Spoiler by laydi

Just got a quote for $33,305 (including destination) for Anthracite/Ebony w/ Nav, wheel locks, mats, splash guards and deck lid spoiler installed.

OTD should be approx. $36,354 (8.75% tax + $80 title and license + $55 doc fee).

From what I've read here, I think this is aggressive pricing but I'm curious to know if anyone has advice on how to approach the dealer for lower pricing. I told him that I knew invoice was $32,5K and wanted a below invoice deal. $33,3K is his first response and the end of the month is approaching. Not sure where to go from here.

Plus there is a 1000 hold back, so I think you can do better.

Laydi... First...glad you are considering going with a TL...and sad that you had to hear all the lunatic trolls on the other board.

As for pricing...this is what I would suggest. If you have not done so...get bids from other Acura dealers. Don't get locked into a single dealer. Be willing to drive 200 miles if necessary.

Also...I hope you did not just walk in and get bids. Rather...deal with the fleet / internet manager...who generally have better prices than the general sales people. Should be able to negotiate a deal via email before you step foot into the showroom.

As for the deck lid spoiler...maybe consider getting a bid without the spoiler then purchasing it after wards and getting the dealer to install. That might simplify the negotiations.

The week is still young. End of month is here...but keep the dialogue going. You will be in a TL soon enough.
