I would tell them the price you want to pay (would suggest just above 30K fr non-nav, and about 32K w/nav.). Then have them throw in the protection package as a deal maker. I would recommend Acura of Glendale, as that is where I bought mine, and I think they are great people to do business with. Good luck.

Good price, Poor Service by leader4u

Well, I sat in a TL several weeks back and fell in love! After taking one for several test drives and cross-shopping several dealers in SE Michigan, I got a price of $32,852 "out the door" for a Nighthawk Black / Parchment Non-Navi with 5 Speed Automatic. That was including all taxes, title, plate transfer, destination, cargo mat, mud flaps, and wheel locks. I think that was a pretty decent deal (I was paying approximately invoice on the vehicle). The salesman was even able to located one coming fresh from the factory. Ok, so what's wrong with that you may ask. Well, unfortunately, the service I received was much less than I expected. Below is the actual e-mail I sent to the salesman, the Sales Manager, and the Dealer Owner documenting what occurred... Needless to say, I've walked away from this situation and will wait to see if there are any August deals on 2005's or I may look into ordering a 2006 after the model year changes are known. I just hope the next Acura salesperson I deal with is more competent.

Subject: URGENT: Regarding Acura TL

Xxxxxx –

I have several concerns and wanted to provide them to you in writing:

1) On Friday, 7/8/05, at approximately 5:30 PM, I spoke to you via telephone and stated my desire to purchase an Acura TL. You told me at that time that you could locate and obtain a vehicle (in the color combination of my choice) within 2 or 3 business days. I also informed you that I would be faxing over a credit application. You indicated you would call me upon receiving it. I faxed the credit application to you approximately 5 minutes later and never heard from you. Even after calling your mobile phone and leaving a message for you I never heard back from you. I then spent the weekend wondering where, and who, might have access to my personal information (name, address, Social Security number, etc.) This was the first time you told me explicitly that you were going to do something and failed to follow through.

2) On Saturday, 7/9/05, I emailed you directly to inform you that I would like for you to locate a Black / Parchment Acura TL and again requested that you confirm receipt of my credit application. After not receiving a reply from you via email, I was required to telephone you to obtain confirmation. I contacted you at approximately 11:00 AM Monday, 7/11/05. You told me at that time that you were looking for a vehicle, confirmed that you had received my credit application, and told me you had not yet read your email. After confirming my color choice with you verbally, you informed me that you would make the appropriate inquiries and that you should have a response (and additional information for me) within approximately 24 hours. After nearly 3 days I had still not heard from you. After 3 days, I seriously wondered if we still had a deal. This was the second time you told me explicitly that you were going to do something and again failed to follow through.

3) At approximately 11:30 AM Thursday, 7/14/05, I received a voicemail from you stating that you had “good news” and requesting that I contact you. For professional reasons I was unable to do so until the morning of Friday, 7/15/05. On the morning of Friday, 7/15/05 we spoke directly and you informed me that a vehicle was being shipped from the factory and was due to arrive "approximately" mid-week, or Wednesday, 7/20/05. This is nearly 2 weeks after I originally contacted you to state that I wished to purchase a vehicle and is much longer than the “2 to 3 days” you originally told me it would take to get a vehicle. This was the third time you told me something that failed to be true.

4) During our conversation on Friday morning, 7/15/05 you also stated that you would have your business manager process my credit application and that you would contact me later that afternoon. As of Monday, 7/18/05 (12:30 PM), I have still not heard from you. This was the fourth time you said you were going to do something and failed to follow through.

I have not purchased a new vehicle in 7 years and $32,852.00 is not an insignificant amount of money to spend on a car. These are two primary reasons I find it is necessary to trust the dealership and salesperson I am dealing with. Another is that I can only assume that the type of service I receive from a dealership’s Sales department is indicative of the type of service I will receive from their Service department. Unfortunately, I can no longer trust your ability to do what you say you are going to do and have been very disappointed in the level of service I have received from you. Therefore I must cancel this purchase. Please do NOT process my credit application if you have not already done so. I will NOT be purchasing a vehicle from you or Suburban Acura at this time. I am certain however, that since you seem to be so busy working on so many other deals you will not miss my business.

Sincerely,

(My name here)

I just purchased an 05 TL with nav for $33,100...$35,150.out the door with tax etc. at Open Road Acura in Wayne NJ. The gave me the KBB price for my trade..$9000 for a 00 TL with 79000 miles. I think this is a good deal and I think Montclair Acura, a close competitor will match the price. I have to wait a few days for the car..silver with quartz.

Seems like a good deal to me.

Silver with quartz, interesting, I have only seen the silver with a black interior. Can you, or someone else, describe the quartz interior to me?

Well Terry, don't know how to answer that one... but I'm sure they are getting some incentive in some way because otherwise, people in CA wouldn't be buying the TL's at the prices they have been posting, and they have a 7.75% sales tax. Don't know, it may depend on what state you are located at. But its possible to get invoice or bellow invoice depending on what date you shop, and how's the inventory on that particular dealership, and how much sales they have done in that particular month.

Hi just curios, what should i expect as far as fees go? buying a TL in the LA area. I got a quote for $32,500 plus tax, lic., dmv and CA tire disposal fees. tax is tax. 8.25% for us lucky socal folks. but what should i expect for the rest of this stuff? also, a silly question, does the tax get added on the end or before the "fees" are tacked on?

i'd really like to get it at $32k even plus tax and title with the protection package. keep dreamin? or is that a possibility?

thanks!

Well I recently bough my TL in the Dallas area and paid in cash, and found it to be a good incentive for the dealer. I bought on 7/13/05 and talked to several dealers through email and phone, and the usual answer I would get after telling them it was a cash deal was "yes we also play with money"..... but if you got your checkbook on hand they really find it hard to let you go that easily because they know you might go to the competition. Ofcourse your chances are better by the end of the month and with a dealer that has a larger inventory. Cash is king for sure and gives you a great advantage. For dealers, well there's no credit checks, financing issues, and other situation that might be costly in terms of time. If someone drops in with $3xK something dollars in hand, and they have to increase their monthly sales, they won't let you go that easily.
