send them an email back and tell them all you have to spend is 32000...and you will be buying next week....don't think they will go for it...but the worst they can say is no right?
Most people think you can't make a counter offer on an internet price...and that is not true...in fact since it is getting close to the end of July you may get what you want...assuming they have the color you want right?

Plus I am assuming we are talking about the TL with navi right?
Without navi you should be able to get one for $30,500 or cheaper...
Good Luck!!

Wait until the end of the month, they are much more willing to deal. After I bought a TL, 2 dealers called me at the end of the next month.

Just got a quote for $31734 for an 05TL w/o NAV in MA. Do you think I can do
better. Don't they need to get rid of these 05's? Would waiting till the end
of the month help?

The $31.7k is way too high for a non-nav. I say $30.5k and below is the target.

Will it help to wait until the end of month? Yes....but during the wait...start a dialogue with other Acura dealers.

My guess is you're paying the "yankee fan" tax in Mass. Try negotiating wearing a Sox shirt...

Seriously, you should be able to do better, less than $31k including destination and ad fees. I paid $30,650 back in January for an '05 in the Boston area and have read of others getting similar deals throughout the year. I negotiated end of month/quarter/year for mine (post Xmas week).

Good luck,
Former (still, I guess) Mets, current Sox fan. Always hated the Yanks.

I know my audience when in Mass, mums the word re - Yankees.

So I should be in $30k range, is it rediculous to think below $30k? I've just begun my dealer contact, that was my first quote. I'm willing to travel for the best price so I have made contacts in CT-RI-MA.

Was your $30,650 including dest and fees?

That's too high, at least by $734. They pay about 29,734 wholesale, tack on 1000 for hold back (they do have to make something), so they are tacking on another 1000 on you. I got the dealer to agree to about 30,700. wait until the end of the month.

$30,650 included dest and ad fee (this is Acura of Boston). Doc fee was $197 which includes "free" state inspections for as long as I own the TL at $29/year (another tax...). The scam is that brand new cars have to pay the $29 tax when you buy, older cars that would never pass the inspection are, of course, exempt. Other dealer I dealt with, Clair Acura, was at about the same price, but way too low on my trade so A of B made the sale. Pleasant shopping at both dealers. CLair doc fee was "only" $99, but no "free" inspections.

I wouldn't think it would be too difficult to do under $31k. Not sure about sub $30, but it is getting later in the '05 model year, one never knows. I also got 2.9%/48 months through Honda Finance, check Acura's and Honda's websites to see if they have offers. Neither dealer was aware of the 2.9, I was and they each had to go on-line to confirm that I was correct!

Boston market seeems very competitive, 3 Acura dealers within 20 minutes of my home. More not much further away. Good luck, keep us posted.

Stopped at a couple of Dealerships in the middlsex county Nj area. Best price quote was $30,995. Maybe I should wait a couple more months, new model comes out in September the salesman tells me.

Internet strategy by rtchin

Hi, ok, so the last time i bought a new car was my 92 nissan sentra. since then, it seems like the environment for purchasing new has changed. what would you suggest a good strategy for buying via the internet sales manager that everyone seems to be posting is the best way? I've gone as far as "submitting my info" to two different local dealer's websites, Glendale Acura and Keyes Acura. I've gotten responses back to "come test drive the tl". I've already driven it and i want to talk turkey, so should I just reply and say...i want this and that for $$$ amount, can you do it? or, i guess, what's the proper "etiquette" for this? is there a site or something that has a guide? i'd like to see if i can finagle a few extras like wheel locks, splash guards, mats, etc

sorry if this sounds lame, but 92....that's a loooong time ago. i haven't walked into a car dealership since then. i've been buying used - private party since. btw, it took all day, but i did end up getting a great deal on that sentra!
