Hello All, Got my new 05 TL with NAVI in 6MT (Anthracite/Ebony,splash gaurds, trunk tray, wheel locks and all season mats) from a NW Dealer for 33000 (includes destination fees). They had a 50 dollar doc fees. According to the dealer there are not many 6MT available in the west.

Thank you all for your feedback and suggestion. I am loving my car...!!!

hey psnm: congratulations on your purchase. I hope to join you soon. Would you mind sharing the dealer name and any other details of your purchase that you think might be helpful.

I got a quote from Chevy Chase for 33059 for auto w/nav. Their processing fee is $100 and tax is 3% as opposed to 3.17 in NoVA. Basically, comes down to approx. $200 adjustment to the invoice when comparing to NoVA dealer prices.

I am also hoping that buying the car with my buddy might get us a better deal.

Thanks and congratulations again.

That seems like a great deal! Which dealership in Mpls did you get that price from? And did you ask about auto w/ NAVI? The lowest price I've gotten so far has been 31, 500 for Auto no NAVI.

Be careful with Chevy Chase - I ended up buying a 2004 TL and 2005 MDX from my hometown dealer because Chevy Chase could never match their price. They are located about 2 miles from where I live, so I gave them every opportunity.

Also, the sales tax is a fixed amount based upon where the vehicle is registered, not where it is purchased. If they are quoting 3.0% vs. 3.17% for Virginia, one of those two figures is wrong.

I'm considering buying a new 2004 TL (if I can find one) to save some money vs a 2005. Anyone have experience on how much I could expect to save this way? Are there any major differences between the 2004 & 2005 models I should be aware of?

I haven't seen any major differences between the two really. Also, I've seen lots of complaints due to vibrations in the 2004 models - so I would think about a 2005. In the next few months, dealers are going to want to start moving the 2005's to make room for a 2006. That would be the best time to go for one.

Bargn_hntr,
I got my car at the Radley Acura on Columbia Pike.
The Va sales tax is 3%.
I dealt with a dealer from Gaithersburg and he basically told me that the difference between buying in MD versus VA is a couple of hundred dollars (in line with what you are saying). I think the difference is the 'processing fee' and the 'dealers business license tax'. The salesman also told me of the county-specific 'gross proceeds tax' that I do not see on the final bill of sale (which could be the business tax).

I also dealt with the Chantilly Acura and I think you can get the same deal as from Radley in Falls Church. Radley also throws in 'life time' oil changes, . I think the Chantilly Acura throws in the first oil change. Free loaner car in both places. I went with Radley because they are closer to where I live and it is easier for the servicing.

Good luck.

Hi Tokash,
I'm trying to buy the same car in Northern CA. The dealer won't play ball unless I have something in writing. Can you help me out? Do you have anything in writing that you can fax me. I'll gladly compensate you for the info via PayPal.

Please reply if you can help me!!

Thanks!

Whatever the lease or money factor is, multiply it by 2400, that will give you the interest rate, they use the money factor or lease factor to make it more confusing. The dealers will have authorization to gouge up to approx. 13% if someone would be willing to pay that, usually bad credit individuals. The going rate is about 5.75, but you should still be able to get a little better, their current buy rate from the bank is a little under 5%. Residuals are fixed for the given months you want the car, for example the 36 month lease is 59% of MSRP which equates to a tad under 20k. Negotiate the price and then make sure your money/lease factor (multiply by 2400 to get interest rate) is fair, then you there's no fooling
with the monthly lease payment.
