Is much easier in my mind. I've purchased or leased all of our cars over the past several years through the internet, and it's getting easier as more dealerships embrace it. Do your research, visit an actual dealership to test drive and decide you like the car, and then decide what you want to pay for the car. Be fair, or else the dealerships will either not respond or respond with a curt "no". In fact, I've done this without negotiating. I've simply emailed all of the dealerships in my area (this is much more effective if you live in an area where there are 3-5 potential dealerships within a reasonable distance) with the price I would like to pay for the color combo and options that I desire. Some will say they can't do it, others will start talking about other things- which usually means they think you are close with the numbers but don't want to agree to it yet. I've actually purchased most of my vehicles at the dealership that isn't in my backyard. I believe the reason is that a dealership that may be 20 minutes from me understands that if all things are equal they aren't getting my business (at least not as a first time customer of a brand). Anyway, without going too in depth- don't "lowball" them, as they won't sell a car to you at a price they aren't comfortable with, internet or not. But I have had success being somewhat aggressive- some of the numbers on this site are not real, so I typically throw out the extreme numbers and peg the solid deals in my area as my target price. The difference between that extra $250 I could probably squeeze on a luxury car isn't quite worth the additional hassle of getting there- especially if the deal is pretty good to begin with. |

People, I picked up my Tl for Chevy Chase Acura yesterday and I must say that it was the BEST car buying experience ever!!!!! From negotiating on the phone, dealing with the salesguy, financing and car prep. I am not sure if I can give the salesguy name on the this board? Email me at "casselman Again, if you are in this area and you want an Acura buying experience without the hassle (the guy was so laid back) and delivered exactly what we discussed on the phone. I was in/out within an hour!!!!! I can not say enough about the service, price and honesty we received from this dealership. Thanks CHEVY CHASE ACURA

Replying to: putragis (Dec 23, 2004 7:05 pm) All in all, I think it's a good deal, considering the level of desire usually found around Honda/Acura products. And, after 600 miles, I am blown away by everything (especially the ELS audio!). I have friends who tell me that they would never have a front-driver, saying it isn't "extreme" enough. All I can say is that with the kind of stop-and-go, real-world driving that most everybody does most of the time, it just doesn't matter. If you want a car that is all about handling and nothing else, look no further than an Evo or a Mini. This is a complete package. At this price point, there is no better value out there. |
