My TL quote by lmacmil

$32,721 plus TTL. That's about $750 under MSRP. Edmunds TMV for my zip is MSRP. My "local" dealer is 100 miles away which I don't really like but if I buy new, they will pick up the car and leave a loaner for scheduled maintenance. Is that a reasonable offer? I'm in northern Indiana. Dealer is in Fort Wayne.

lmacmil: I guess your quote is for a non-navi TL. It does seem rather high but I think the dealer has an advantage because you are not in an area where multiple dealers are competing in the 50 mile radius. By the way, for 2005 TMV numbers have been = MSRP for quite some time and I think it is probably an error. At least in MD / VA one can easily manage to get a non navi for 31,600 and navi for 33,600. You can even squeeze out some more but I think do what is best in your area. Enjoy the new TL.

TL Leasing Terms & Accessory Prices by sacdriver

I am interested in leasing a '05 TL. A dealer I visited today came up with lease terms which included a $595 "bank fee" when leasing through Honda. I've leased for years through GMAC & Ford Credit and have never paid a "bank fee"- should I now? Is this just added dealer profit?

I'm also interested in adding some of the exterior accessories such as the deck lid spoiler, body side moulding, and side underbody spoiler. The Aura website shows the retial cost of these items without installation. Should I expect to pay full price? About how much for installation?

Finally, the salesman told me the TL is low maintenance- needs an oil change only every 7500 miles. Is that true?

It appears Edmunds just shows the MSRP for the TMV value in my area (Sacramento). What's a fair amount to pay over invoice for a basic '05 TL without Nav system?

Market Shift by manthony

Take heart you S.F. Bay Area buyers, I believe there's been a bit of a shift in the market and prices are starting to come down to within shouting distance of what the rest of the country is paying for the TL.

When I started my shopping for a new TL with A/T & Nav about 2 months ago, I solicited bids from 11 dealers in the area, from Marin to Seaside. I got 10 quotes back and 7 of them were exactly the same: $34,470, or $1000 below sticker. The other 3 were about $500 higher.

Well, I waited things out for awhile, as inventories started to build a little, and finally picked up my new TL from Los Gatos Acura this past Tuesday for $33,700 + TTL. I had actually gotten a bid of $33,500 from Marin Acura but I elected not to make the 1.5 hour drive to save another $200. I should say that Marin seemed quite anxious to earn my business and was ready to go the extra mile.

One other key point here is that I had ordered the Deep Green Pearl w/ Parchment combination, which was very scarce during the time in which I was shopping. The effect of that situation was that only the two dealers I mentioned had a vehicle on which they could compete for my business. If you are looking for Silver or Anthracite, however, you've got bunches of them on the lots right now and you should be able to get an even better deal with more dealers competing. Acura of Concord also has good stock.

As far as the car itself is concerned, so far so good. It sure is tough driving, however, while you're trying to figure out how to work all the new stuff. Sorry for the long post.

sacdriver,

You should not have to pay any bank fee at all. Some dealerships charge a 'processing fee' and this is optional too. At max they might charge $100 for doing the paperwork.

The more specific of a car you want (ex. color, accessories, body kits, etc) the less bargaining power you have. So don't show interest in these things to the dealer right away. You could try to get them afterwards. Ofcource buying items from the dealer will be more expensive. They will charge installation and it can add up.

Maintenance is relative because it depends on how hard you drive the car, short distance, long distance, lot of uphill, by the sea, desert. With normal driving conditions the TL only needs an oil change after 7500 miles because it uses synthetic oils.

I have been offered an extra 3 years, up to 100,000 miles, for $1295. I'm thinking about it but not too seriously. As a comparison, the warranty on my wife's Audi A6 just ran out and they offered us the same extension but for $2800. Every authoritative publication you read, however, advises against it. In my case, I don't think I'll want to keep my TL for longer than 4 years so that's also why I'm leaning against it.

cls03,

I think it's a good deal because you're done after 32 months. Either way if you buy or lease the dealer will still come out on top.

BTW...what resale value did you get if you wanted to purchase after the lease?

Also do you know what price they would charge if you wanted to buy before the lease ends? (Lease balance + resale) or (lease balance + purchase price balance.)

On 12/11/04 I will be picking up a 2005 TL w/ Navi for $33,300 including mud flaps, wheel locks, destination charges, and trunk tray here in the Los Angeles area. Color: Satin Silver with Ebony interior. What do you guys think about this deal? By the way, does anyone know how much license fees are here in Los Angeles? So to sum up: $33,300 for all of the above + tax and license

I think license + tax is around 10% of the price your buy the car for in CA.
