So Cal stick shift by sandiver

I was offered $31,900 last night on a silver 6 speed (obviously manual) with Summer tires (No Navi).

I wanted to pay $30,500 but the dealer wasn't interested...

Does anyone have insight on where the breaking point is on this?

I wonder if another $500 would have sealed the deal.

What's your sense of the premium for sticks in So Cal at the moment? Apparently there are only 15 or so around.

What kind of miles did it have when you got it? I mean, if it just sat there and people merely poked, prodded, and fondled it, I don't think its a big deal, personally. But that's just it. I think its a real subjective and personal kinda thing. Some folks want to own a car that nobody else has even breathed in. Some (like me) only care that nobody has taken it for a test drive out of fear that it was potentially abused from a mechanical standpoint.

Is this price around $1500 over invoice? You may be able to find a lower price, but you'll probably have to order it and wait 6 weeks or so. If it is the color you want, try to increase your offer a few hundred dollars and see if they bite. They might be holding off for someone to pay full MSRP on this car. If you are going to finance it, getting a good rate (less than the dealer's) may help make up for the higher price.

An update:

I just talked with the GM of Silverhill Acura and he said unequivocably that that blown clutch could not have been in any way caused by in-showroom abuse. He went on further to say that they have to ship the blown (flywheel) to Honda for warantee reimbursement and they couldn't do that if it was becasue of abuse.

And as far as all the trim nicks and scuffs that WERE likely caused by Joe Buyer and his kiddies climbing all over (my) car, they have proactively replaced all the fixtures and left everything spanking new.

So I'm satisfied that I was worried over nothing - and big kudos to Silverhill management and Service for how they dealt with this.

Corey.

You pay taxes to the state where your car will be registered(Ohio in your case). I live in Washington DC, and last August I did the opposite of what you are talking about. I purchased a 2003 MDX from Lindsay Acura in Columbus, Ohio, and had it delivered to to my house in DC. I had a 25 day Ohio temporary registration, and when I received the title, I took the Vehicle to the DC DMV, to pay the taxes and put tags on it.

klee3: "They're selling the TL to you at $29,900?? The invoice is $30,300!"

Actually, the invoice is $29,755. The $545 destination charge is not included in the invoice, and usually added on top.

Regarding a couple of recent posts ...

Please check the header of this discussion (or our Rules of the Road linked at the top) for the kind of sales information which may and may not be shared within the Town Hall.

The Town Hall may not be used to pass on salepeople's names, contact info, etc. Asking people to email you with, or for, that information is using the Town Hall to do that, so that's not an okay thing to do, either.

We appreciate your understanding.
