The residuals are estimates based on recent history (I'm guessing more than just the prior year) and are there to protect Acura and the dealer from any substantial loss on the lease as well as to entice the lessee to consider purchase or lease extension at the end to the term. I'm talking about Blue Book in 3 or 4 years and one's ability in any given market to attract buyers or get a good trade-in offer.

Nav and backup cameras seem to have become the items de jour during the past 3 years or so (I'm also old enough to remember when A/C was an extra cost option and folks who saved on the buy tried to fool their neighbors on a hot summer day) and are showing up on just about every vehicle listed over $30K now a days (many mid-$20K MSRP vehicles are getting pushed up to that $30K price point w/ tech packages). Whether they will be as "essential" to the late model used car buyer as A/C and AT in 3 or 4 years is anybody's guess, but following auto reviews and promotions indicates to me that the manufacturers think they are becoming high demand options.

Just MHO. I could be wrong, but I wouldn't buy a +$30K entry level luxury car w/o tech unless I was sure I was keeping it 7 to 10 years. BTW, I live in metro-Denver, and while most families own one 4WD truck or AWD SUV here, cars with AWD don't seem to be that big a seller (exception being the Infinity I-35/37 AWD, which seem plentiful here). But, that's just based on observation, I haven't dug into regional sales data for all brands.

(exception being the Infinity I-35/37 AWD,

I think you meant the G35/37. They haven't sold the "I" in several years and I don't believe they ever made it in AWD. Anyway, I agree that tech is really getting popular(myself included) and I do like to keep cars 7-9 years. Thats the rub. I'm a little leary of tying up that much cash in tech that may break or become somewhat dated down the road.

I'm not all that familiar with leasing but I thought the residual was an estimate on the cars worth at the end of the lease that is used to base payments and price that the car can be purchased for at the end of the lease. How does it function as protection for the dealer/Acura? If it is set too low payments would be high and less competitive, if set too high payments would be low but the dealer could be stuck. If set accurately it would benefit both parties equally I would think.

Not sure where you got the info on what a residual is but in my last 4 leases, it has never enticed me to extend my lease or purchase at lease end. If the residual is calculated correctly, then it should be an accurate value of the car at lease end. Because Acura's depreciate less than other brands, their cars typically are worth more than the residual value - so you're better off selling, keeping the positive equity and putting it down on another vehicle.

Who knows how valuable the tech package will be - in my experience it is not important when selling however. If you follow auto reviews and promotions to advise you on the importance of the tech package then the marketing is working.

Concerning AWD not being popular on cars, do they sell Subarus or Audi Quattros in metro-Denver? They're everywhere in Chicago.

Oct pricing by acurafan11

I finally closed a deal on AWD with Tech for 36700. I got the same price a couple of months back as well but I think its still good . may be they made 400 dollars off me. Keyes in LA was willing to sell it for 36200 but their dealing is very pressurizing and I resent that.

Now I can stop researching and enjoy the car. Good Luck with your purchase guys.

Ya... its a 09. I dont think they will discount a 2010 that much. ALso. I did not care for the manual trans so it was an easy decision.

The buying experience was nice at Thomas. I did not negotiate much as I knew it was agood deal. They threw in the wheel locks as freebie. We discussed the price on internet and the whole process was complete in half hour.

The finance deptt wanted to "inform" us about all the goodies, but once we said that we are not interested , they behaved professionally as well. Overall we liked our dealing with them.

They have two more 09's left. if anybody is interested give them a call.

I have look at several dealership for the best price on 2009. I am not having the success that some posts I have read. What should I expect to reasonable pay for a 2009 TL Tech? Quotes range from 34,800 to 36,100 with pro pkg. Your input is appreciated as well as dealer reccomemdations in the states within 500 miles of North Carolina.
