Why don't you check the on-line inventory of 2009 TLs at the dealerships before you drive all over town wasting gas. In general, I don't think there is any supply shortage of 2009 TLs w/ Tech.

LV,

If he'd paid cash, it would have been $32,453.50. You figure he wouldn't have to pay the $595 acquisition fee, but my experience with dealers is that they figure out a way to pay the finance department even when you're paying cash!!!

I didn't run the numbers, but when benzserviceguy talks about adjusted cap cost, that means purchase price.

I didn't know about these Forums until AFTER I bought the car (ugh!). So, went for a test drive of the base model and ended up buying the AWD. Go figure! I didn't even drive the AWD but the wifey said it would be better in the snow.

So, AWD for $36k (before TTL) but he threw in the protection package (mud guards, wheel locks, and trunk tray) and Lojack for free. I would have taken the car w/o the package or Lojack for a cheaper price but it's the only AWD left in the color I can live with (white/taupe). They only had two AWDs left. Iffy deal? I think I did ok but could have done better.

Is this the AWD TECH you got for 36K?
Tech meaning the back up camera, nav, 10 speaker audio etc etc etc.

No, not tech version. Just AWD. It's about $200 more than the TMV for my area but this includes Lojack and the protection pacakage. I was going for the base model and was armed to the teeth with info. I didnt' think I would be interested in the AWD and of course it was a complete 360 when I got there.

So you think $36k is decent?

BTW, question to all. I went back to take a look at the car again today and I noticed the lower body molding on the driver side is "askewed". The fit and gap is not correct near the rear wheel well (just in front). The gap is rather large compared to the passenger side. It doesn't look like that it was bumped by anything as there's no marks or dents any where.

I pointed this out and the dealer took it to his body shop guy instead of letting a mechanic muck around with body panels. Response back is that some of the clips holding it let go or got bumped and he has no idea how it happened. This is a show car on a pedestal on the lot.

What would cause this to happen? Is it this fragile? He said he's going to replace the clips and snap the molding properly back one. It will be "as good as from the factory." Should I trust him? He has been good throughout the deal but something just doesn't sit right in my stomach that a dealer has to snap back a piece of molding. Will it be "as good as from the factory" and will it hold up for the life of the car? I know this may be a minor question but it's a lot of money to me!

There are no other cars to swap as this dealer.

Thanks!

Here is the breakdown of the price for the AWD Non Tech-
Sticker-$39,315
Factory Invoice-$36,201
Actual Dealer Cost-$34,046

In my estimation, I think they can shave off another $900 off the 36K but with all the accessories they are adding on, probably the 36K is justified.

Ah, I see! I didn't know there is a dealer's cost of $34,046 else I would have negotiated more. Edmunds now shows a TMV cost of $36,688 for the color of my model and area where I live. It looks like it went up from a few days ago or I was hallucinating back then. Comparing apples to apples, my "TMV" is $36k.

Like I said, I should have read and posted here first! Oh well!
