merlion0821, did that 32,395 include destination? Any other costs besides taxes, title, registration? Did it also come with side trim molding?

Yes, that price did include destination, and there were no other costs besides the tax, title & registration. The dealer claimed I was the first one to get a selling price into their "reserve". I asked him if he was referring to their holdback, and he said yes.

It did not come with the side trim molding.

So far, I'm extremely happy with the car.

Good job merlion0821. I offered essentially the same price on Dec. 30th as a "take it or leave it." The response was "but we won't make any profit." The dealer hasn't sold one of its basic models for over 1 month.
Soon they will wake up to the reality of the market. Their position is like someone with a home purchased 2 years ago saying, "I can't sell if below $____ because I would take a loss."

Buying (hopefully) an 08 TL without navi tomorrow by dckiwi

Hi all,

My local dealer still has a few 08 TLs without Navi in stock, and I think this might be a good time to pounce. (I'm going with the 08 because 1) it should be a good deal and 2) I really don't like the look of the grill on the 09).

Anyway, here is my plan - tell me if you have any thoughts. The dealer had sent me a quote of 27,500 for an 08 TL w/o navi in October. That price includes everything except TTL and their 'processing fee'. So I figure worst case, I can get 27,500 (+ processing fee). But surely I can get a better price than I got 2 months ago?

I'm going to try for 26,000 and no processing fee. So add in 5% sales tax and I'm at 27,300. I'm also expecting to get Kelley Blue Book for my trade-in.

Is this realistic? Could I do even better? I figure I can be aggressive because it's now 2009, I'm buying the base model without navi, and in this economy cars can't be selling very well.

I'll also be paying cash, so I don't need any promotional financing.

Thanks in advance! I'll post here tomorrow with the outcome....

Hi LubDub - I plan on visiting this dealer next week - to be clear - you paid 40k for this car versus MSRP of ~42k or did you pay ~36k??? Also - when requesting an on-line quote from them - is it typical for the dealer to get you the color you want via a neighboring dealership or do they more often stick to what's in their inventory?

Hi dckiwi,
What state are you in? I got the same quote from a local dealer in TX: $27,500 for 2008 w/o nav (destination included). Were you able to make a deal with the dealer? Please do keep us posted with your experiences.

Hi

I saw an 08 this past Saturday, no Nav. Not a demo or loaner. I offered $26K, the lowest they would go was $28. I walked away. This is in the Phila area. Good luck with your purchase.
