2001 steering problems

Boy, after reading several of the posts I am glad I have a 01 instead of all these others. Our problems are minor comparably. We had the whining in the steering box like others have mentioned and it was replaced but still whines a little just going down the road between 55 and 60.
The check engine light for a while came on periodically and had something to do with the emissions. We had the part replaced by the dealer and is ok now.
We really have enjoyed ours but won't be replacing it with an 07 that's for sure after reading about all the problems most of you have had.

2007 Yukon rolls backward while still in drive!

I just bought a 2007 Yukon and found that in my driveway or other simular incline my Yukon goes backwards while still in drive. GM says it is operating within specifications. They also told me nobody else has complained about this serious safety issue.
Now they tell me this is normal after the intitial 500 - 600 mile breakin. I was told this is normal...am I the only one with a Yukon that does not think this is acceptable?
I am very disappointed in GM and their Customer Service.

I am with tigmanphil. I have an 01 as well and it is the best vehicle I have ever owned. When the new ones came out I was watching, but I will not be upgrading as it sounds like a downgrade to me.

I wouldn't call a your truck a lemon because it rolls back on a hill in drive. I have a 2001 and have noticed that it does the same thing. I thought it was strange, but a lemon, I think not!

I have a 2006 Yukon XL Denali and the headlights are exactly the same. These "shadows" are within the design of the photometrics. While annoying there isn't much you can do about it except get used to it. After owning two new Chevy Suburban's the Denali is without a doubt the finest motor vehicle I have ever owned in my 45 years of driving. I have 15k miles on it and have not had one issue. The ride, power, sound system and numerous features make it an absolute pleasure to drive. Don't focus on the annoying headlight pattern, but enjoy all the other luxurious features.

Well Dah..... I think the BREAK ?? is what holds most vehicles on a hill or slight incline - try using it.....! Perhaps you should read about how an automatic transmission works. It does slip otherwise it'd be trying to drive you forward at every light or situaion when you applied the break. This would be very hard on the drive line if it were the case. Does this make any sense to you?
Come on - you need to think it through before you spout off about having a lemon - it's really more of lemon thinking here then it is the vehicle. Get the facts first.

I also have the 2006 Denali and I plus all my friends think the world of the car. It's popular in our circle of friends for the air ride and spacious seating, wife loves heated seating, my towing the 27 ft trailer is safer now. The transmission is someting you get to know. Tap it just before going up a hill and it will downshift to get the trailer up the hill at 2800rpm, but if you wait too late into the hill, it will drag the trailer up at 2000rpm only, not good. Learn to work with the tranny.

My Yukon automatically shifts to and from 2 wheel drive/ 4 wheel drive/ 4 wheel drive low and neutral by itself. Does anyone have any advice or ideas. I am planning on a long trip and need some type of ideas, as dealer says they have no ideas.
