GMC Yukon and Yukon Denali Problems

| I recently purchased a 2004 Denali Yukon XL. On high beams the lights cast shadows on the road in front of the car like there were fence posts in front of the lights. Has anyone else had this problem? Is this the way they are designed? This is what the dealerships are telling me. I find this unacceptable. Low beams are off when high beams are on. How can this be corrected? | |

Also, the mileage is not accurate, something the dealership is telling us can be attributed to its "newness" and not having been "broken in" quite yet. We are taking it for its first real dealer visit on Thursday to have them check out the RPM issue...I have been looking up the Lemon Law in Texas and it really looks like the consumer has to prove a pretty tough case in order to get the vehicle deemed a lemon. You mentioned that you are seeking legal assistance. Are you hiring your own attorney or doing the research yourself? It's really a shame that one pays over 50K on a vehicle for this! It really hit me that we had a problem when I recently went truck shopping with my sister and we test drove a few SUVs and NONE hesitated up a steep hill much less a slight one. In fact, she accelerated right as she was going up the slope and none of the SUVs hesitated or RPMs raised. We cannot even keep the same speed we are going in our Denali when we encounter an uphill slope, much less speed up! Does this sound like any of your problems? Thanks for reading.

Replying to: lerenis (Aug 15, 2007 3:33 am) 1. While cruising between 35 and 60, just tip into (lightly accelerate) the gas pedal and watch what happens. The engine will actually decrease in RPMS. Only GM makes a vehicle that slows down when you apply gas. You can thank the GM computer geeks for this screw up. Rediculous! 2. In an emergency situation, you might stomp on the accelerator pedal to avoid an oncoming vehicle, then lift your foot and then stomp again as you evade a dangerous scenario. Now you try stomping on the gas pedal about two to three second intervals. Try this on the highway as well. The transmission goes crazy. And the lag times are remarkably long. You have no safety margin in the GMC Denali due to delayed engine/tranny response. The drive by wire computer you have gets totally confused and it ceases taking any signals from the gas pedal. You are dead meat. |

Boy, after reading several of the posts I am glad I have a 01 instead of all these others. Our problems are minor comparably. We had the whining in the steering box like others have mentioned and it was replaced but still whines a little just going down the road between 55 and 60. The check engine light for a while came on periodically and had something to do with the emissions. We had the part replaced by the dealer and is ok now. We really have enjoyed ours but won't be replacing it with an 07 that's for sure after reading about all the problems most of you have had.

Now they tell me this is normal after the intitial 500 - 600 mile breakin. I was told this is normal...am I the only one with a Yukon that does not think this is acceptable? I am very disappointed in GM and their Customer Service. EDBJr
