They usually do not ask if you have a trade in but if they do just tell them i haven't decided yet because I do not need to sell my current car. They won't know and then when you get the price you want tell them you have reconsidered and in your down payment you will be using your current car as a trade in. Once they put your selling price of the vehicle in writing you can alter the down payment anyway you choose. It is just whether or not you are wiling to accept what they want to give you as trade in. They most likely will low ball your trade in because you got the sale price of the new car down, you could always leave a refundable deposit with them, ask them to hold the car for about 3 weeks and try and sell your old car on your own. Good luck I ended up taking a low price for my trade in because I was tired of waiting to sell my car on my own but I ended up with another dealer and paid 1700 less than I previously posted. I pick up my new truck on Thursday. $38,891

did you get premium sound/dvd? Did you wait for a specific color? I've been told by several that the model I'm looking for is hard to find because they didn't make as many w/premium sound and entertainment packages as the others. Did you price include the trade in.

2004 RX330 Price in Texas by arezzo
Aug 17, 2004 (10:33 pm)
I am planning to buy a 2004 RX330 FWD, Premium Pkg, 18" Aluminum Wheels, Power Rear Door, Rain-Sensing Wipers, Towing Pkg, Leather & Wood Steering Wheel & Shift Knob, Cargo Mat and Wheel Locks. MSRP $39,483, Invoice $34,676, The best internet offer is $36,315 from a Houston area dealer. While visiting another dealership, I mentioned the looming $7,000 depreciation. One would have thought I was attempting to adopt the car, and found to be an unfit parent for the reference. Just wondering about other experiences in the Texas market. Any comments on the $36, 315 internet deal? What is a reasonable price? Also, what is a reasonable price for 2004 RX330 w/Premium Plus Package? Thanks!

arezzo,

The RX330 is a high demand product, you are not going to get the car for invoice or close to invoice even at the end of the model year.

Arezzo: Best Price In Texas by mrrogers

It appears that Texas is a tough market. I suggest that you show your Texas dealer the Carsdirect price for Los Angeles (91311 zipcode). I just checked, and for a 2004 RX330 with the Premium Plus package, the MSRP is $39,340. Invoice is $35,033. CarsDirect price is $34,833. If the Texas dealer does not match the price, then I would work with CarsDirect or a Los Angeles dealer. Also, JMLexus in Margate, FL claims to be the world's largest Lexus dealer. I wonder if they would match the Los Angeles price?

I paid $35,750 day before yesterday, with the same options (FWD, Premium Pkg, tow package, wheel locks and mats, 18" Wheels, Power Rear door, Rain sensing wipers, Leather & wood steering wheel)with a MSRP of $39,483. The dealer wouldn't budge, and it took a lot of haggling to get it that low. First offer was over $2,000 over invoice. Second was $1000 over, third was $750. Invoice included holdback and wholesale reserve, and was slightly higher for this area because of advertising they tack on. Real dealer profit was probably closer to $1500 more or less including the hidden costs. I probably could have gotten a better deal if I wanted to go a long way to get it. But since there are only two dealers in the state, the cost to go out of state probably isn't worth it.

Love the car. Defect free, and typical Toyota build quality.

I just bought the same exact vehicle you did and paid $35,100.00 plus tax and tag. No dealer fees!
We bought ours in Ft Myers, FL....we live in Tampa, Fl which made it about 100 mile trip and by doing this we saved big $$$$. Most dealerships around here are advertising price with that package on it for around $35,900.00. So based on your location I would say you got a pretty good deal. Enjoy your "LEXUS"!

Thanks, everyone, for your input. I'm waiting to hear from Dallas dealers and will provide an update when I get their prices.

The price you paid was just about the invoice price for mine. Regional prices vary, and our area the invoice prices are a bit higher than in Florida. When there are only two dealears in the entire state, it's a bit hard to get them down so low. My actual cost was about $625 over their stated invoice cost (which included the holdback and wholesale reserve).

Jonesok1, what state do you live in? Also, where do you find the holdback, wholesale reserve, etc. information?

Thanks.
