Mine is not.   What were the symptoms of front wheel bearings needing replacement? Just today I had our dealer replace the steering rack and put four new brake rotors on. It steers and brakes wonderfully, but my wife pointed out that it is making an absolutely new noise, and I agree. When you drive down the road, we now hear a low hum that reduces when you slow down and stops when you stop. Wheel bearings come to mind. I can't get it back in to the shop for a few more days. I'm a particular customer and I'm sure they'll roll their eyes when I come back in there.   Thanks, Bill

The rotors have all been replaced - we've been having pulsing problems since 7K miles, and it's been in probably 6 times. We've had to replace tires every 15K miles - this time I put Nokian WR-SUV with silica and a 50K mile warranty on them to see how it does. Brakes and pads too, but no tie rods or stabilizers (yet?).   It's specific to this vehicle. I drive a '99 Outback and before that a '96 K1500 (which is still around) and we've had none of these kinds of problems with those vehicles. I think the Outback still has its factory wheel bearings at 150K miles and the brakes have been done two or three times with one new set of rotors. The truck has gone 40K since I've had it without needing either, and I plow with it.   Hopefully our kids will be out of the minivan age bracket soon - this unit has the best ground clearance of any AWD minivan, which we need on our road between slow plowing and impressive ruts, but it's a turkey and the 3/36 warranty stinks. It'll be paid off in a few months, thank goodness.   I bought the Pontiac based on my positive experience with the Chevy truck, but I'm unlikely to buy another GM, at least not a truck. My Subaru has been great, and they're advertising that 95% of their vehicles sold in the past 10 years are still on the road, so I think we'll get another one for our next vehicle. If they're just get off their duffs and make a minivan, they couldn't keep 'em in stock in New England.

Do these vans (specifically Terraza) not have power ports in the front for cell phones??? I would have to charge my cell phone in the power port in the cargo area??? It's always-on, which might be good for a cell phone, but a Tom Tom will kill the battery overnight.   Anybody know how to convert one to key-switched? My 36000 mile warranty is well over. It can be used to plug in electrical equipment such as a cellular telephone or CB radio."   May be equipped??? Ya...well...I don't think mine has one. I'll look again tonight.   What about a tire pressure monitor? I don't think it has that feature either. Even my 99 Regal has that too! I was just going by what the owner's manual said, "...located below the climate controls on the instrument panel." Well I guess they ARE below...WAY below. I'm just glad I found it. Does anybody else have a problem with the AWD System disabling itself just when you need it? It seems to be caused by icy slush. I think last time we had it to the dealer they had to reset something in the computer, and blamed it on a wet sensor. To put side impact airbags in the front and not in the rear, when it is equipped with at least five more seats, is a terrible decision. Any parent would agree. Our children's safety is of utmost importance. Side windows are usually only down when driving through a park, so the kids can see better, at speeds under 20 km. As far as the power windows, I have had nothing but GM vehicles for the last twenty years, and never experienced any problems. Side curtain airbags should be available. For someone with no children, it is an option that they can choose not to take. For parents, the option is a vital one.
