| vans, I'm sure will work great for the majority of folks, just like our Malibu has worked for us. With the rebates they're a great practical value. But I'm not sure if one can say the same without the price advantage though. That's not to say GM cars are not good. It's just that its competitions are very tough. | |
| not three thousand right off the bat, more like $500 and $1000. Get to model year end clearance however...... | |
|
|
| Watch for the rebates at first to perhaps follow the G6 examples. Rebate coupon sent to those who request infomation or register at the web site. $1000 (new) GM card redemption allowance. Perhaps targeted direct mail to current or competative owners. | |
think GM should do what Honda does with their van: make everything standard, and at the same time keep the price tag low. If I can get a new 05 Oddyssey with pretty much everything for $25K, why would I pay the same for a GM van?

Replying to: tamu2002 (Oct 09, 2004 8:12 am) No Way! You meant $35K, right? |
|
| I'm really not trying to exalt the Odyssey, but the thing has traction control and side airbags and curtains standard. The trim I checked doesn't even have any available options. I'm sure you have to pay extra for the DVD but who cares? | |
| The LX gives you plenty of features, but for the premium features like the power sliding doors, VCM, the CD Changer, automatic climate control, Navigation System and DVD, you have to step up to at least an EX. But the LX is a good value anyways without all the premium stuff. It still has side curtains and a split folding third row seat. | |
| Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't really care for those premium features, especially if I have to pay thousands more for them. With the exception of the power sliding doors. We're driving a rental Dodge van now. The power dual sliding doors and the holes in the floor are really handy! | |

IMO, the $25,000 Ody LX is bar-none the best minivan value out there right now. Need more features, the EX is also a great buy, but Toyota offers more options flexibility/configurability, and equipped similarly, the prices arent that different. ~alpha |

Best minivan value? Best minivan, you're right, but not value. You can have most features for that price on the Freestar or Chrysler minivans (after rebates). But then again, they are not the "best" minivans. The Freestar SEL w/ power sliding doors and power everything (MSRP well over $30K) is now available for about $23K at most dealers. That's a lot more value in my book. And the new GM vans will be no different. You'll pay (after a few months) $25K out of pocket for a fully loaded van (well, except for the curtain airbags), not just for the base model, as Honda. mings98 "Chrysler Town & Country and Grand Caravan 2005+" Oct 10, 2004 7:55pm
