Thanks - in reading more on this forum, I have gone ahead and cancelled the service contract I purchased and will be recieving a full refund credited to my loan - I would rather use already established savings to pay for any car repairs that might come up then take a chance with this contract that would probably wind up being more of a headache anyways. Thanks for your advice.

This is a an article about US Fidelis and a class action suit filed against them.
They are thieves.

I have to totally agree with you and yet...there is honest John (Rusty Wallace and his son) on damn near every TV Channel pitching about how this guy or that guy saved thousands of dollars by having the US Fidelis Warranty.
It is a disgrace to the American public to allow ads like this and pitchmen like him on TV, radio or whatever!!!!

Warranty Direct - Positive Report by vanalder

I have noted some (to me) extremely disparaging posts re this firm. My very recent experience has been a very positive one.

On a 2001 VW Cabrio both front window regulators had broken w/in a month, and there were two semi-expensive repairs required to get the Check Engine Light to stay reset.

To make it short the bill at an independent was $ 1720.
It was paid without a whimper. The repair shop handled all
the calls, I paid him, and my Warranty Direct check arrived
in about a week.

The only oddity was that they did not pay the Florida
Sales Tax, but this was disclosed early on in the process.

Hi,
So you had warranty coverage on an 8 year old, almost 9 year old car ? How many miles did your VW have? Highly unusual to have any warranty coverage on an 8yr/9yr old car unless its a Hyundai/Kia 10yr/100k mile Powertrain warranty. And how much and when did you pay for the Warranty Direct warranty? Thanks.

Also Warranty direct says it covers powertrain warranty even up to 199999 miles.I checked a quote for a 2000 VW Cabrio with 92k miles for warranty coverage. It came back as Powertrain warranty up to 5yr/100k miles more for $1750.That is, upto year 2014 and 192k miles..that is ridiculous. No reputable warranty company will cover upto 192k miles.Just goes to show that all these 3rd party aftermarket warr companies are worthless ,piece of crap which absolutely do not pay any claims and just rip people off.
As suggested here before, always always buy an original manufacturer backed Extended warr.Even after GM and Chrysler went bankrupt, the govt. backed their warr. Will it ever happen with an aftermarket warr??Hell,never..
So buy only a manuf. backed ext. warr.
