Another thing, what do you think about the extended powertrain warranty? Should I still buy a general extended warranty with that in place??

well, i don't really understand $2k under invoice before rebates. I mean, unless there are hidden incentives, that dealer would LOSE money on that car. There just isn't THAT much holdback.

Yes, depreciation is a killer, and honestly, as much as I like this vehicle, I couldn't reccomend anyone BUY it at the prices we are talking about here. We got ours for around $10k off sticker, and I know other folks have, too. But that's when rebates were in the neighborhood of $6k. Like I said, who knows if they will get that high again.

Have you thought about a used one?

And, no, unless it was very very cheap, i would not buy a warranty. You are covered on anything major with the powertrain warranty.

Its actually $1k under invoice and then she deducted the $1k since we felt it was better to take the 0% financing.

I have thought about the used ones. I rented one last summer and it seemed fine. I didn't notice much hesitation from the smaller engine but 2007 has the new engine so that's why I've been looking at it. Also, if I buy a used one than my interest rate jets up to about 7.5% (I guess is the used car rate nowadays). Plus, if reports for new Pacs aren't that great, I can only imagine what the reliability for a used one would be.

Have you looked at the Pilot? Those are being discounted considerably now and the resale is far far better. No, you won't get 0%, but if the vehicle is a couple grand cheaper, it really shouldn't matter.

You're right. I can't seem to find a whole lot of those around here though (well not the EXL).

Anyhow, she came back to me with $30,956.45 OTD.... I "over" offered.

now I feel like I left $$ on the table.

It depends on exactly when you made the deal. $400 over invoice is a bit generous, especially at the very end of the model year.
I had also been agonizing over the 2007 Pacifica for about 9 months before I “took the plunge.” I located a car that had much more stuff than I would normally have needed and had been on the dealer’s lot since early this year (before price increase). I lucked out regarding timing and made my deal on 7/23/07 when incentives had been fattened quite a bit. Specifically, $4500 ($3500 + $1000 Bonus Cash) or 0% for 60 months (and $1500 Bonus Cash). I also got lucky by taking delivery on 7/26/07 due to the moon roof installation process. Thus, I just made it under the wire to get the “Lifetime Powertrain Warranty”.

Details:
> 2007 Pacifica Touring Signature Series
> “W” package (fairly loaded – leather, NAV/rear camera, heated seats, ParkSense, power liftgate, roof rails, 19” wheels, 6-disk CD changer
> Entertainment Group 2 (DVD with rear video screen, SIRIUS radio)
> 19” ultrabrite alum wheels and tire pressure monitoring system (very cool)

> MSRP = $36,305
> Invoice ~ $33,234.
> Price - $33,000 (~ $234 below Invoice) minus $1,500 Bonus Cash = $31,500
> Added aftermarket installed moon roof (nicely done by dealer recommended installer)
> Took 0% for 60 months financing (included the $1,500 Bonus Cash)

Impressions so far (only 950 miles):

> The car rides very well. Smooth, tight (but not stiff), quiet, comfortable.
> Not as quick as my previous vehicle (2004 Maxima SL), but still acceptable.
> No problems, noises, glitches, adjustments (again, so far).
> I would recommend this vehicle for the overall package of style (not a sedan, not a wagon, not an SUV, not a minivan), equipment complement and value. Of course, the enhanced powertrain warranty will help me sleep better for having bought a Chrysler. Maybe the company knows something that some recent customer opinions don’t reflect.

Good luck to all who consider a similar purchase.

I'm still trying to work this out... Error in the numbers; she thought I was going with the $4000 incentive, I was basing the numbers on $1k off and 0APR.

So your OTD price was $33K on a 36,305MSRP?? I'm looking at that number on a car with an MSRP of $34500.

Where are you?? I'm in NY; been dealing with a CT and NY dealer...

I also went ahead and purchased CR's bottom line pricing report which states that dealer's invoice is really about 2K less than what they show you... But in the end it doesn't matter. What are you going to say "Well CR says your invoice is really $xx,xxx" They're going to shove the paper in your face and say "Its written right here".

Oh well. I guess I'll keep trying. I know the CT dealer is holding back because I've gotten better discount (before incentives) off MSRP on higher priced PACs then the one she has.

Clarifications regarding my numbers and some of your issues.

> I do not quote OTD figures, just pricing. Actual OTD depends on local taxes (state, county, city, blah, blah), permissible doc. fees, etc. These vary considerably, are beyond your control and contribute to confusion in comparing different deals between different locales.
> Never confuse manufacturer incentives with pricing (i.e. selling price at, above or below invoice). They are separate issues. Your $1000 incentive with the 0% financing is from Chrysler. Note that I stated a $1,500 Bonus Cash figure with the 0% financing deal. The extra $500 represented “dealer participation.” To their credit (and my amazement), my dealer volunteered this extra amount without any prompting (or even awareness) from me. Are these offers still available? What time is it?
> More about my dealer. They are located on the far South side of Chicago in an older (read low overhead) facility. They were very low key, with no pressure at all. Their initial offer was about $500 over invoice and they responded immediately to my counter offer at the final price noted. Keep in mind, my vehicle is fairly loaded and had been on their lot since late last year.
> Another thing. The CR “bottom line pricing report” is a waste of money. All of the information you need is available for free on sites such as Edmunds.com, Kelleybluebook.com, etc. I subscribe to CR and find them at the low end of the usefulness scale. These are the same guys who print reviews of products that are no longer available by the time of publication and were purchased at a local hardware store in Nova Scotia.

Good luck.

Hi all. I am looking at at 2004 AWD loaded with leather seats, moonroof, dvd, heated seats, etc. The mileage is 78,000 with one owner that bought at this same dealership. I got the price to 11,995. I bought an extended "added care plus" warranty (2years or 30k miles) for $1600.00 on top. Did I do alright?
