Ok guys, here's what I was offered. awd touring in white with the u package, and it has the crossbars, dvd, and parksense. MSRP: 34795.00 Invoice: 32425.00 Its either: $28,925 (incl. $3500 rebate) -or- $31,425 (incl. $1000 and 0%) Thoughts?? I really thought that by this time dealers would be in "deal" mode considering the car's sales history as of late. Thanks. Mara

| Thanks to those of you that responded. After doing more research on the Pacifica AND talking with my mechanic, I decided against purchasing the vehicle. The reliability record (consumer reports) just threw me off a bit. I wishall Pacifica owners well with their vehicles and hope that the reliability record proves all wrong. Thanks! | |

Hi everyone... I'm a bit reluctant about the Pacifica because of some of the posts I've read here but also the CR's New Car Prediction of "worse than average". However, the discount/incentives on this car make it the one I can afford. So here's the deal: AWD Pac. Touring - Brilliant Black U package Infinity Intermezzo Surround Sound System Power Moonroof Parksense Rear Back-Up System MSRP of $34,500. Dealer offered $32,135 less rebates for total of $28,135. Dealer's invoice on this car is around $31,079.00 Well, its actually better for us to go with the 0% financing Chrysler is offering so our price would revert back to $32,135 - $1000 for a total of $31,135. I want to offer $31,500 OTD (all inclusive). What do you think?? Is that fair (for dealer and us) or am I leaving too much on the table for this car, at this time of the year with all the competition its got out there?? Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Mara.

Although, you didn't say what your state taxes are. I know here in NJ, on a $30k car I'd be looking at $2100 tax, around $250 registration, figure $150 doc fees, for a total OTD of $32,600.

I'm still puzzled about the sharp depreciation this thing suffers in the first year alone. (ah, geez, there I go filling myself with anxiety about the Pac's negatives). Since I've got two dealers I'm working with, I'm going to submit the offer. If she doesn't like it, she'll tell me. I'll make a similar offer to the other dealer.

We got ours for around $10k off sticker, and I know other folks have, too. But that's when rebates were in the neighborhood of $6k. Like I said, who knows if they will get that high again. Have you thought about a used one? And, no, unless it was very very cheap, i would not buy a warranty. You are covered on anything major with the powertrain warranty.

Replying to: qbrozen (Aug 13, 2007 4:57 am) I have thought about the used ones. I rented one last summer and it seemed fine. I didn't notice much hesitation from the smaller engine but 2007 has the new engine so that's why I've been looking at it. Also, if I buy a used one than my interest rate jets up to about 7.5% (I guess is the used car rate nowadays). Plus, if reports for new Pacs aren't that great, I can only imagine what the reliability for a used one would be.
