well worth the money!! by kkodal

well i bought my pacifica used from a rental company which i thought later was a mistake BUT i've owned the vehicle for a year now. Till now not a single problem thank god. The only thing that i wish i had a couple options on it like leather with heated seats and awd fog lights and HID's but then again as far as the reliability this car is awesome. I am loving it and enjoying it a lot. I have the 05 touring fwd with dvd entertainment system. Another thing i like about mine is that since i don't have all the options it gives me motivation to do some more on the car. And every option i put on the car makes me happier even more. So far i upgraded the sound system and got the auto dim mirror next week i'll be working on the fog lights and the auto head light option.
as far as american cars go i used to think that american cars were trouble makers too but i had an 02 explorer xlt before my pac and i did not have a single problem with that suv either?these two vehicles changed my mind on how american cars are...
i guess it is not the vehicle ... It is you LUCK!!!

I had an 05 Pacifica and it was great, until my wife was hit head on by a Yukon. It totaled it, but the only injury to the wife was air bag brusies. So I went and got her a 07 Pacifica and it has 2000 miles on it and we call it the "Hanger Queen" because it is always in the shop. This week we had the torque convertor replaced. It fixed the problem for now. Makes you think what is next....

New Pacifica questions by stardust10

We've been looking to by either a minivan or some other "smaller-than-the-darn-Durango" vehicle to replace our leased 04 Durango. Have kids and sometimes travel, so we'd like to have a bit of extra space. We did consider some larger sedans, but not sure if we want to go that small. (Maxima, Avalon, etc... used)

Have an online offer from a dealer we've been working with (that we leased the Durango from) for a new 07 Pacific Touring.

He says MSRP $28,480 Invoice $26,800
He's offering $500 below invoice and then a $2500 incentive off of that. TTF's total somewhere around $1200 and so he came up with $25,000 OTD. If we decide to make an offer on this, what would you recommend as a starting point?

I am concerned about gas mileage a bit with these and also the steep depreciation. Any thoughts on used prices? Other vehicle recommendations are welcome, too, though I know this is the Pacifica forum.

Thanks,
Christina

PS: Should also mention that one reason we are considering this deal is that we can get them to pay our remaining 3 lease pymts and the turn-in fee. We're over mileage, so that would be helpful!

2007 Pacifica Touring - Bought it! by stardust10

Okay, here's what we paid/got: (much nicer car than the previous one we were looking at...)

07 Touring with 29T package (fog lights, power liftgate, upgraded stereo with 6 CD/DVD/MP3 changer, Sirius, Leather seats), premium floormats, and they are installing power moonroof. MRSP $30,030 plus $1000 for moonroof install = MSRP $31,030. OTD 25,000 plus they are adding 7yr/70,000 mi extended warranty free. Also paying our remaining 3 lease payments and turn-in fee ($375) for Durango.

We feel like we got a good deal - thanks to this forum for the idea to ask for the extended warranty - they balked, but in the end they knew we would walk if not added.

Hope this helps someone...
Christina

Christina,

Congratulations. We were looking at the CRV'S and the Pilot. My wife's battery went dead on her 2002 Town & Country (which she loves) and when we jumped it the speedometer pinned and got stuck. I told her while she was at the dealer to test drive the Pacifica. Guess what...she loved it. They gave her a price on a Touring AWD w/ the Spring Special Package 29P which has almost every option available.

MRSP was $34915.00 and they said the car was on sale for $32,800 -$500 from the dealer and andother deduction of $3500 in rebates. This is without a counter offer or running and internet sales check through the edmunds site.
We had the bumper to bumper on the 2002 van(which I paid for) and really only had to use it once which really paid for the the warranty.

I was also thinking about asking them to through in the extended warranty but didn't know if they would go for it.

Thanks for the info and good luck with your new Pacifica.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You MUST get extended warranty. It is a must with Chrysler cars. I had 2001 PT Cruiser and paid dearly (about 4000$) in after warranty repairs (on a low mileage car).I kept it for 7 years and finally trade it in. I like Pacifica but went with Mazda5 instead. Can not spend even 1 cent on Chrysler any more. They lost me as a driver for my lifetime.

eugened,

My thoughts exactly. I kinda thought that I would only by Honda's in the future. I have a 2003 Accord and my three kids have all gotten Honda's since. I have had such a great experience with not only the cars but the service department when you have an issue which is very rare. They certainly do take care of you better the the american car companies. That is why I am a little hesitant.
But on the other hand as I mentioned we now have a 2002 Town & Country and fortunatley over the past five years the only problem we had was the liftgate and the warranty covered all of that.

Decision....Decisions....thanks again for the input and good luck with the Mazda.
