To clarify... Assuming you are BUYING the Pacifica--I have no basis to comment on leasing--start with the TMV price and subtract the incentive. I believe that incentive on the Touring and Limited stands at $1500. When I purchased my 07' Touring, I used the TMV and subtracted the $1500 incentive and the $1000 "Premiere Event" coupon I received as the owner of a Chrysler Corp vehicle. I also traded in my Dodge Intrepid.

Replying to: qbrozen (Feb 08, 2007 11:46 am) Given an MSRP of $33,515: I took the TMV of $31,984 for the vehicle with the options and subtracted the $1500 incentive to arrive at a beginning "offer" price of $30,484. If the dealers says ok (fat chance), THEN, I'll assume (and here's where I need your input) that the incentive of $1500 and lease loyalty of $1000 will be deducted for a final selling price of $27,984. Should I be working off Edmunds invoice prices or TMV prices to determine where my initial offer should be?? Then I have to figure out the lease info(Arghhhhh)... Also, the two dealers that I'm targeting have a huge number of these vehicles in stock (one has 25 and the other has 26). What do you think my chances are with such a high inventory?? Do you think I should let them know that I'm aware of how many they've got in stock?? Let me know...Thanks!!!!

Replying to: maradag (Feb 09, 2007 8:35 am) TMV is inflated. I always pay below TMV. Pacificas are tough to sell. They will be sitting there forever until incentives are deep enough to move them. Dealers know this. So you should be working off INVOICE. I don't know about your area, but for my area, Edmunds shows $1500 lease loyalty and $1500 regular rebate. So that is $3k total rebates that I would subtract from the invoice price. As I said before, that number would be what I WANT to pay. However, I would start with an offer to the dealer of maybe $500-$1k below that (depending on how brazen you are). I only suggest this method for something like the Pacifica. They really have a tough time moving them, so you may very well get one for $500 under invoice MINUS the $3k rebate ($3500 off invoice total). But if you wind up at invoice minus $3k or something like $100 over invoice minus the rebate, it is still a decent deal. Oh, there is no need to let them know that you know how much is in stock, etc. No need to mention holdback or any of that jazz. You know your number, you make your offer, end of story. They know how many they have in stock and I think rubbing their nose in it will only set you off on the wrong foot. I find it works to just always be professional and respectful. "I did some research, I'm interested in taking advantage of the lease loyalty incentive and manufacturers rebate. I'd like to get this vehicle for $xx,xxx." Being that it is a lease, they will obviously work to discuss payment, and I think that can be ok as long as you don't lose sight of that purchase number. Honestly, though, I think you should find out the money factor and residual values before hand. If you can go in and say, "i want to lease this vehicle for $xxx per month with nothing down for 36 months and 15k miles per year," it could be even easier than dickering about rebates, invoices, etc.

Replying to: qbrozen (Feb 09, 2007 11:18 am) Anyhow, that's exactly where I get confused!!!! In all the research, all the forums, I keep reading "negotiate the price of the vehicle, not the price of your monthly payment" The bottom line is that I need to have a specific monthly payment... After all this reading and advice, I feel that I can go in there and negotiate a decent price but what if that doesn't help my monthly payment??? Kaboom, my plan just exploded in my face. Besides, that I read that the higher the MSRP the lower the payment is likely to be... Well, nothing like adding another wrench to the equation.... Its no wonder people just go in and sign... this is exhausting.

Replying to: maradag (Feb 09, 2007 3:12 pm) SOMETIMES, the higher the msrp, the greater the discount ... but the payment will still be higher. For instance, there might be $4k difference between invoice and msrp on a $40k model, while only $3k difference on a $30k model. So you are getting $7k off sticker on the more expensive vs $6k off on the cheaper model ... but, obviously, you will pay more montly for that $33k purchase price than the $24k one. you are doing your research, and that is the biggest hurdle. Just take your time and everything will be fine. |

Its me again, Mara. I guess I've made some progress... This is a two tiered question. Ok, so I requested a few quotes from local dealers. Dealer A said he'd give me a price of $29,610 (he said that was their price) for an 07 Pac. AWD with only a powerlift gate, no other options. MSRP $31,080 Invoice $28,558, Edmunds TMV $29,729-$2500 (incentive/loyalty) for $27,229. Dealer B emailed me back and gave me a price of $29,992 on the same vehicle with more in it(U Pkg.& moonroof)with an MSRP $33,485 Invoice $30,675 Edmunds TMV $31,984-$2500 (incentive and loyalty) 29,484.00. First of all, do you think this is a good price?? Secondly, how do I go about telling the dealer A, that I received this quote from dealer B, said quote being superior than what he offered me… - Do I call him and tell him or do I go in there and show him the email?? - Do dealers call other dealers to verify? - Should I block out the name/email address of the person whom I’ve been corresponding with at dealer B?? Mind you, dealer A is just across the street from my office and much more convenient than dealer B, who's over the bridge, so I'd much rather work with him. Plus, we've already leased a car there. Thanks for your thoughts on this one!!!

Replying to: maradag (Feb 13, 2007 1:08 pm) on dealer a, you said $29,610 (which is apparently ~$1k over invoice). Is the dealer already taking the incentives into account? Did the dealer's email mention the incentive? dealer b is saying $29,992. Again, is this before or after incentives? Edmunds is telling me there are $3k in incentives. Is your area different? |

Replying to: qbrozen (Feb 13, 2007 2:07 pm) I paid $29,000 even OTD for an 06 Limited (brand new) back in August.

Replying to: qbrozen (Feb 13, 2007 2:07 pm) With both dealers I had to chime in and "remind" them of the incentives that would be deducted from those prices. FYI, in NY, incentive is $1500 and lease loyalty is only $1000. (bummer).

Replying to: iibbmm (Feb 13, 2007 3:32 pm) From what I gather $29k for a LIMITED is a good price (depending on what options you got). The base invoice price for a Limited AWD (no options) now is $32437 and $30,613 for a FWD. I'm looking at a Touring which is just above the base model but below the Limited.
