Ah, so Ms. Sakthorp you mean your final price was $1K under invoice. Since my dealer is offering $100 over invoice plus the $1500 rebate available right now that would put me $1400 under the invoice price. I'm betting that the offer will become sweeter in February when the current rebate expires... Jay

Seems to me the dealer lost money there ... I'm not sure why they would elect to do that. Did this vehicle have demo miles on it? did you have a trade-in?

Replying to: qbrozen (Jan 17, 2007 10:55 am) We knew the exact vehicle we wanted as we had "built" one on Chrysler's website. We wanted a 2007 Brilliant Black Limited AWD fully loaded. I did an inventory search via the Chrysler website, found one and called the Internet Manger. I offered him $1000 under his Dealer Invoice and he faxed me the Dealer Invoice for that car with our out the door price. We drove to the dealership, test drove the car, (it had 8 miles on it) purchased the car and drove home, enjoying Sirrus radio the whole way I should mention that we had previously special ordered the Pacifica back in November, from a different dealer for the same exact price, but when I arrived to purchase the car I HATED the color. Seriously hated it. We had purchased from this dealer three years earlier (Chryler PT Cruiser), and they understood and told us they would simply put our special order into their inventory and not to worry about it. What a relief that was! They offered to do another special order for a different color, and even tried unsuccessfully to locate one from another dealer to try for a trade. The next morning, I found the Black Pac myself via the inventory search feature on Chrysler's website. We live on in the Pacific Northwest, maybe things are different elsewhere, is the Pacifica a hot car in other parts of the country? I wonder since Chrysler has cancelled the next generation Pacifica. Will this make my '07 a collector's item or an Edsel?

The second deal, where we located the vehicle had only been sitting on the lot for just over a week. At any rate, cars can be had for $6,000 UNDER invoice ($10K under MSRP) as we found when shopping for SUV alternatives. We were tempted....for about 5 minutes. In fact, I think Chrysler is/was offering $6,000 off '06 Pacs right? Whatever the cost, we wanted an '07 Pac with the larger engine, backup camera and the new ESP safety feature. I would have paid full MSRP if necessary.

in your area, what was the Edmunds TMV price when you researched your vehicle? Assuming you used Edmunds to research it of course....

Replying to: Jason5 (Jan 17, 2007 5:27 pm) We purchased a Subaru Impreza Outback Sport AWD SP in July, a Honda Element EX 4WD in November and the Chrysler Pacifica Limited AWD in December. We printed out the Edmunds TMV info for all three vehicles and managed to purchase all three for well under the TMV pricing. I should mention that we do NOT finance our vehicles and I've often wondered if that affects the kind of deal a consumer can arrange. We come in, pay, and try to get out of their way as soon as we can. That said it ALWAYS takes longer than we hope! |
