Well, we did it! Came home with a loaded Butane Blue/Light Taupe Touring model last night. Only 60 miles on it so far but we love it already!

Our dealer of choice was CarMax Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Orlando, FL. Besides the $4000+ employee discount and $2000 Chrysler rebate, we got an additional $1000 CarMax discount and their "processing fee" was only $149. A lot better than the $500-$700 dealer fee quoted by other dealers. Plus no pushing to get us to buy dealer add-ons, extended warranties, etc. The MSRP was just over $35K and we got it out the door with tag, tax, & title for less than $30K. You might be able to haggle an even better deal with some dealers, but this was a no-haggle, no frustration experience and a pleasant one at that!

We opted against the factory GPS Navigation system in favor of an aftermarket Garmin unit. More features, portable from vehicle to vehicle, and 1/2 the price through eBay stores. Now I just have to find those chrome 19" wheels!

Which Garmin did you get? BTW Congrats on the new PAC. I have 30k miles on my 2005 and it is so smooth. No issues with it except for the clicking noise TSB, and that was taken care of inthe first week or so after I got it. Good luck!

We opted for the Garmin StreetPilot 2720, their top-of-the-line automotive unit. It appears to actually have more features than the factory job and of course, is transportable from car to car. Retail is nearly $1200 but can be purchased new from reliable eBay stores for around $825. You can read the specs at www.garmin.com/products/sp2720/

You can still go cheaper, I was able to go $1000 plus add-ons after employee price and rebates. I have an 05 pac, loaded (no Nav, uconnect, or intermezzo system) and walked out the door under $30k including tax, title, etc.

I would also would negotiate little add-ons that you would eventually buy anyway once you agree on a price, when they came back with their final counter offer, I agreed under the condition they would give me factory slush mats ($100+ for all three rows), chrome door entry guards ($90), and a hood deflector ($80). They gave me two out of the three, plus you have to figure all those parts probably cost them half of what the consumer pays.

How did you get a Honda Touring, I presume Odyssey, for $27.1K? Where and when, if you don't mind.

Thanks

Welcome Miguel2! It's nice to have an official Chrysler rep here. I tried to come up with some questions, but since I'm a very satisfied customer after over 27 months with my Pacifica, I can't think of any except what we can expect for 2006. I am, however, curious what percentage of Pacifica's are sold with the second row bench seat.

IT actually was at invoice, but the dealer tried to change the contract. "Which was at 4.9% to 7.9% interest". After I already signed the original contract. So you know I wasn't gonna sign any other papers, "with the help of my lawyers of coarse". So we played let's make a deal. The dealer had to lower the price of the van to $27,100 and I kept the 7.9%. I was happy with the numbers they weren't. btw, for 66 months and $2,000 down. Forgive me for leaving out anything, I don't have the contract in front of my face. I like to end on these notes. Never pay "MSRP" for any vehicle, never be afraid to walk away, and last always shop around, have the dealers compete for your business.

well after almost 2 years of owning it, and 52k miles I trade it in tomorrow on a Subaru B9. can not say it was a pleasant ownership experience. I mean the car is great now that all the recalls and TSBs were done. but just not confident in the Chrysler Transmission. and the Trade-In or Resale Third Party is very very low. The employee purchase programs didnt help the resale any either. I am getting $18k on a FULLY loaded 04 pac with everything but leather and sunroof. and I mean everything (I custom ordered it). the avg trade-in was about $16k! the market price to sell it to someone if I could find someone is $19k maybe... had tried for past 3 weeks listing it in autotrader but no bites

so disappointed in the resale value and the ability for anyone to want a used pac. I sold my Toyota Highlander with 50k miles in just 2 weeks and had tons of calls. AND sold the Highlander for more money then I am trying to sell the pacifica.

Employee pricing...probably can get better by 05pac

To start off...It looks to me that there is quite a bit of room to negotiate below the employee price and current rebate on an '05 pac. I used to think the invoice prices listed on Edmunds and Consumer Reports were reliable but I'm beginning to think the dealers are just concealing their actual costs in other ways and the invoice prices are quite artificial. We just bought an '05 touring with most options and the MSRP was $36,600. After "employee pricing" and rebates the price was $30,407.

Here's where I feel there is more room to negotiate...We originally were offered $3500 for our trade. Edmunds specs said $3843 for trade-in, $4939 for individual sale, and $6151 for retail value. Carmax offered $4000 cash. I negotiated the dealer up to $6300 for the trade in...this money had to come from somewhere and I don't think the used car manager gave all of the additional $2800 to make the deal.

I'm not sure where the additional $2800 came from but I would definitely try to get below what the dealer is advertising somehow...its tricky but the money can come from either side. I used to think it was best to sell your old car and not take a hit on the trade in value...In this instance I actually did better using it as a trade-in and saved money on taxes and the inconvenience of trying to sell.

I'm curious what you all think...I hate buying cars...also, the Pacifica is great!
