But it never sold for $40k. With all of the rebates and market correction my loaded AWD 04 (without nav) went for $29,000.
 
That makes it more reasonable. And it's also why I leased.

Gotta agree here but I am still disappointed. I paid $27500 for my AWD back in July 2003 and we now have something like 18K miles on it. I took it in and was quoted $21,000 by the Chrysler dealer. Nothing says 'we value our products' like a low trade in quote. I was tying to get something with better gas mileage but after finding out how much I would lose I quickly changed my mind. I'll wait and see how things go but I am happy with the car and like driving it. It's just the gas mileage right now that is a drawback. Even the 300C with a Hemi gets better mileage which makes me wonder about the 3.5 liter. Wonder if we will ever see a diesel in this car? It would be a good candidate and they could sell them in EUrope too.

Thanks. I drove home my pacifica 2004 last Saturday. We just love it! I even volunteered to do the laundry in the garage so I can just look at my new Pacifica. So beautiful and exactly what I want with price I can afford. Yes I decided to get the 2004 model. The production date was March 29 so I think it is actually not too far away from a 2005 model. with 8000 off MSRP maybe it is not a great deal at this time of the year but I think I will just take it. Now we can do all kind of things like going to dancing party in the city, skiing in Lake Tahoe, long, fun, comfortable trip to Yellowstone. Yeah!

23% is about right for an American car the first year I'm afraid. Chrysler does not set the resale value - the market does.
 
This is exactly why if I want an American car I lease. The factory supported lease residuals eliminate this problem.

The residual value on my lease (22 months left) is $21,500 compared to the NADA current trade-in value of $23,000. Chrysler Financial is going to take a real bath when I turn in the car! I am happy to let them take the hit while I enjoy my (their) Pacifica.

I couldn't agree more...if they put one of their M-B diesels in this baby, WOW! takes away any negatives in mileage & performance!

We're looking at a 2004 FWD with the 26R option & convenience group cargo. Dealer is offering $100 over invoice price of $29,486 minus $4000 manufacturer rebate. MSRP is $31,535. Total is $5949. Not overly good from what I have seen on this discussion board. Dealer is also offering low trade-in on a 2000 XLT Explorer in good condition - their price crept up $1000 in 30 mins (made eventual offer of $8000). We walked away this evening and expect some follow-up calls this week with a better trade price. Anyone else experience silly games like this from their dealer (Archer Chrysler in Katy TX).
