Lighting will stay in the F-150 platform, but will be re-introduced in 2005.
Here's a picture of the '04 Harley Davidson F-250 SuperDuty.

Now, were I in the market, THAT would really interest me...... Thanks for the link on the pic. I have a friend who currently has an F-250 & a FatBoy who will be all over this....

The reason why it's switching over to the F-250 SuperDuty platform is because Ford pays Harley Davidson royalties on the name usage. Because the new F-150 will debut in a few months, and there's so much concentration on it's standard trim levels such as FX, XLT, Lariat, etc. They rather not debut the "boutique versions" yet.
So as to not lose money on name royalties, they rather switch it to the F-250 Superduty Platform, while the F-150 gets it's act together for the first 2 years. First the FX, XLT, Lariat's will debut... after a year where all factories are running, and everything is selling well, THEN such editions, or what's called "boutique versions" will come out. At that time the Lightning will be one of the first ones to debut.

I can't get the Ford media link to work, but they are saying on FordHarley.com that it is a 6.0 Powerstroke?
Jun 15, 2003 (4:38 pm)
That's what I hear too. A new bigger PowerStroke.

Yes it's Ford's new PowerStroke Diesel, 6.0L V-8 that will be used for it.
