Seems Ford has decided to upside the Harley Davidson edition onto a F-250 SuperDuty platform. __________________________________________________ Ford's Harley pickup moves to super-duty platform By Richard Truett Automotive News / May 19, 2003 2004 Ford Harley-Davidson F-Series pickup The 2004 Ford Harley-Davidson F-series pickup, which will be on sale this fall, moves from the F-150 platform to Ford Motor Co.’s super-duty platform. This is the first time the Harley package will be available with a diesel engine. The engine is Ford’s new 6.0-liter turbocharged Power Stroke V-8. The automaker would not reveal pricing. |

| Still all black? Any change mentioned to the Lightning? | |

Lighting will stay in the F-150 platform, but will be re-introduced in 2005. Here's a picture of the '04 Harley Davidson F-250 SuperDuty. http://www.wieck.com/public/*2PV_051096 Source: Wieck Media |

| Now, were I in the market, THAT would really interest me...... Thanks for the link on the pic. I have a friend who currently has an F-250 & a FatBoy who will be all over this.... | |

The reason why it's switching over to the F-250 SuperDuty platform is because Ford pays Harley Davidson royalties on the name usage. Because the new F-150 will debut in a few months, and there's so much concentration on it's standard trim levels such as FX, XLT, Lariat, etc. They rather not debut the "boutique versions" yet. So as to not lose money on name royalties, they rather switch it to the F-250 Superduty Platform, while the F-150 gets it's act together for the first 2 years. First the FX, XLT, Lariat's will debut... after a year where all factories are running, and everything is selling well, THEN such editions, or what's called "boutique versions" will come out. At that time the Lightning will be one of the first ones to debut. |

| Looks like a hit to me! | |
| I can't get the Ford media link to work, but they are saying on FordHarley.com that it is a 6.0 Powerstroke? | |
| That's what I hear too. A new bigger PowerStroke. | |
| Yes it's Ford's new PowerStroke Diesel, 6.0L V-8 that will be used for it. | |
