That said, a few things you might want to know--besides checking it out for yourself: --The GL won whatever comparison Consumer Reports did (if you read that magazine at all). I figure if they like something, it's at least "safe". You won't have to think much. It does seem rather good though. --The Q7 is just brilliant in its seating arrangements; as far as combinations go. I don't know about space. --The MDX is at least as good as the Pilot, which is very good. --Car and Driver loves the Cadillac SRX. It is their "Best Luxury SUV" this year for the third time, although you'll have to check out the third row for yourself. Anyways, here is how the Audi looks: They also claim to be rated very highly in safety from the NHTSA. You should check them out at http://www.Audiusa.com As for Mercedes: Couldn't find any more interior shots, but it is very good-looking. Another one you might consider is the R-Class, which Edmunds is testing long-term right now. I will post more in another post, because this forum at my last long one. |

Here is the SRX's: You can also see it very slightly in this picture: The R-Class seats fold flat, by the way. I think that would work a whole lot better than a full-on SUV, but that's just me. Go on over to the Edmunds long-term page for a day-by-day review. They seem to like it.

Replying to: readerreader (Dec 29, 2006 6:35 pm) In any case, I am inclined to get the Q7 - I just love its fit and finish and the V8 transmission and its braking are just awesome. The only concern I have is with Audi's reliability and this is their first true SUV???

However, when the new Pilot comes out next year, it will likely be on the same platform as the MDX--much like the last iterations of both were. You will just have to take your chances with Audi. I am not hung-up on reliability like a lot of people here because almost all new cars are just fine. I thin you'll like it and it will probably work well. The Audi is a great choice. I think you will like it. You maybe able to pay less and get the VW Touareg which is pretty much the same vehicle--and that has been out for a little while now. Do not take any shortcuts if you are going to spend money like this. I suggest you test all of the vehicles here--even if you are sure you'll get the Audi. |

However, when the new Pilot comes out next year, it will likely be on the same platform as the MDX--much like the last iterations of both were. Accuracy is really important in the statements we make, so those making a judgment based on statements made on the board will come to a reasonable conclusion. It turns out that the best readerreader could have originally said in attempting to compare the 07MDX to the Pilot should have been "Maybe the next (generation) Pilot will be based on the 07MDX platform." IMO even that would not have gotten very far with someone currently considering a 07MDX. So it is not just a matter of being "technically correct." Just say, "Oops, I got that wrong," and move on. My comment is similar regarding the issue of size comparison between the 07MDX and the Q7. One would be hard-pressed to label the 07MDX as "small" compared to the Q7. From published dimensions, it is rather that the GL is obviously bigger that the other two, and is a large SUV. Additionally, I would advise prospective buyers to indeed take the issue of reliability seriously, unless they do not mind and they earn their living returning their hard-earned sparkling car to the garage every week for repairs. To each his own tho.

Then drove over to the Acura dealer and found the MDX with the color (Nimbus Grey) and the options (sport + ent) that we wanted, and pulled the trigger. I am going to pick it up today

I pick it up Tuesday, since they didn't have my color combo on the lot & had to order it. If you haven't test-driven the '07, I highly recommend you do! My dealership wouldn't come off MSRP in November, when I first drove it as they were selling a lot of them. Saturday I closed the deal for Kelly Blue Book on my trade, and they came off MSRP by $610, ordered the car I wanted, plus offered to tint my front windows. |

Replying to: justg0 (Dec 31, 2006 9:50 am) Congrats justg0! Here is wishing you and all many years of safe and blissful 07MDX driving... I should say so, because my own (yes) 07MDX Sport + Ent, Black/Bordeaux Leather has been delivered to the dealership and is waiting to be shipped to the foreign country where I currently live. My friend who has taken formal delivery and has driven it says the car is simply stunning in looks and marvelous in performance. Can't wait. Happy New Year to all. duwdu |
