I can't imagine walking away, or in your case driving away HOT, from this situation. It seems like you should return to the store and ask calmly to talk to the manager. Write down beforehand all of the problems which you found immediately after the installation. Show your list to the manager and ask what he is willing to do to make it right. I would guess that Best Buys also has a customer complaint (800) phone number. If the store manager gives you no satisfaction, call the corporate number. I would guess that the radio connection used an under-dash power source, which may interfere with the heating system. This may cause a drop in voltage which causes the solenoid controlling the heat valve to malfunction; it may send an erroneous signal to one of the computers which then reacts by keeping on the heat. In any case, the installation is unacceptable, and you should assertively (not aggressively) insist that it be made right. The door lock may simply be a wire behind the inner door covering which was not reconnected (electric locks?) and the speaker rattle may be a slight misplacement of the speakers, cured by insulating the screws from the metal of the inner door. Both are fixes which the installer should correct. I wouldn't threaten or even mention small-claims court, but that may be your recourse if Best Buys doesn't stand behind their (shoddy) work.

thanks packman. to their credit they did tell me they broke the lock and have that part on order but i had to push them to order it asap. When i drove off and heard the rattle i drove back and they then fixed that. But then a couple days later i noticed the heat (hadn't needed it for a couple days) issue. I just wanted to be sure that there was a logical connection to them messing around under the dash, which from your comments I gather there definitly is. Now I'll go fight with them about that. It gets old.
My advice: AVOID BEST BUY INSTALLS.

I'll add to that: AVOID CIRCUIT CITY INSTALLS
Don't go anywhere except REAL car audio shops. Same goes for home entertainment installation.

I had my XM Satellite Radio installed at a local Circuit City and encountered no problems whatsoever. However, your experience may vary.
I agree that a dedicated car audio shop is the best place to go as they have the most knowledgeable people. I got a pretty good deal at Circuit City at the time that no one could match.

I recently purchased a set of head phones from the following web site for around 36.00. Got them in 3 days and they work great.

I am planning on purchasing a Pioneer AVIC-N2 for my 2003 4Runner. First does anyone have any experience with this or the AVIC-N1 unit. Second, I live in Fairfield County, Ct. and after reading how poorly the installations are at the major chains, does anyone have any installation recommendations?
Thanks.

2005 Sport 4Runner can't get 3rd row seat???

I just ordered a 2005 Sport. You can only get the 3rd row seat with a SR5 or Limited, not with a sport model. So I have a need occasionally for a 3rd row seat. I checked the parts to order and install, over $2000! It was only a $730 option. I have also look at some of the aftermarket 3rd row seats online. What I would like to do I get one seat {they split in the middle and hang on the sides} for the left side from a wrecked late model 4runnery. Any one find themselves in this same dilema?

I have a 2003 4 runner and want to know where I can get a chrome grill. I have seen them on 3 other 4 runners, but can't catch them to ask where they got thiers.

That's a great question actually. They are standard on 2005 models....so my guess would be that you might be able to get one from the dealership. I'd like to put one on my 4runner too....so if you get an answer....post it here!!
