Non-navi AutomaticTSX in DC area by juris

Thanks again to all of you, especially those who took the time to respond to my post. Knowing what many of you paid helped a lot in my negotiations.

I started by getting internet quotes from 8 area dealers but after phone, email and in-person contacts, the lowest price I could get was $25,600. I then expanded my search to 14 additional dealers in PA, NJ, DE, MD, & VA. The best prices came from Bobby Rahal Acura in Mechanicsburg, PA and Metro Acura in Philadelphia. I was just about to buy from one of them when a local dealer agreed to match their price. Yesterday I bought the carbon grey automatic without navi for $25,100 at Tischer Acura in Laurel, MD. The documentation fee was $99 and they included wheel locks and the trunk tray. (Please patronize the above Pennsylvania dealers to assuage my guilt--I wanted to buy from them because they were so helpful but Laurel is so much closer than Philly.)

The negotiations with dealers in this area were difficult. I mentioned to more than one salesman the fact that I had read on this forum what actual people were paying for this car. The response of the dealers was overwhelmingly negative. They told me that the braggarts on this site are liars and impostors. I was lectured a few times about the laws of supply and demand and told that "holdback is the dealer's money and therefore not [the salesman's] to negotiate". In the end, the only way I was able to crack the local market was to get offers from outside the area and show them that to save hundreds of dollars I was prepared to pay the small $24.50 bus fare to Philadelphia.

I hope this adds to the general store of knowledge. Good luck to those still in the hunt.

Just Bought a TSX w/ NAV by jdb92656

I got a 2004 TSX auto with navigation in (Carbon Gray - yes CG again) for $27,112+TTL. I went through Autoland in LA who made the experience so enjoyable and easy. Gary Andrews was the consultant and he was excellent. The dealer delivered the car to my house and Autoland is scheduling a time to pick up my trade. I only went to the dealer once for 10 minutes to test drive the car. Never entered the showroom or dealt with a salesman.

Okay.. I know you were considering a CPO BMW 325i also... What was the main reason you chose the TSX instead?

It's about what you get for the money - the TSX is a real value. I paid 27K for the Acura and was looking at a 31K 325. I thought the 325 was overpriced and the Acura, well let's just say they're not a dime a dozen. In Socal, the dealers are noticing that the USC grad is willing to spend the 30-35K for a used 325 to throw their USC alumni frame onto. They are really not willing to move on the price. Also, I think I only saw one on the way home last night but saw 10 to 20 325s. Sure the 325 has the name appeal and the RWD, and yes a bigger engine, but the TSX is so smooth even with the sport-shift automatic. This comes from someone who was sick of driving in LA traffic in a car with a mack truck gearbox (see 02 Maxima SE 6sp) and clutch. Also, there's nothing like the smell of a new car.

I looked at the 330xi,the 325xi, legacy gt, acura tl, and infiniti G35x. at first i thought i really wanted the BMW. after several test drives of both the bmw and tsx I decided on the tsx. You can get a non nav tsx for 25K, a comparable BMW (new) is 33K-35K. The tsx comes standard with stuff you can't even get on the bmw. and i believe the tsx is more reliable, and jd powers is surrently backiing that up. I also thought about a used or demo bmw, but there is something nice about getting a new car. my tsx is due in 1 to 2 weeks. can't wait!

I've been searching around for best price with different dealers in Los Angeles area. The best that they gave me is $25,395 + Tax + License Registration fee. I am not sure if they inclue the document fee in there yet but I haven't made up my mind yet. The price for $24,800 that someone got was nice. Wish I could find that price here in Southern California.

Try the Autoland buying service. They were able to get me a price $500 below those I have seen on this board. I paid $27112 for a TSX with Nav from Tustin Acura using Autoland. It's also hassle free. You may be able to get closer to the $24800 price through them. As for the document fee, it's probably not included. It should be about $45.

$27,112+TTL = $29,450.18. I also bought an aftermarket 72mo/100K warranty for about $700. It was much more inclusive than the Acura warranty for the same period and not as restrictive.
