Hey, folks. This might sound like a stupid question, but you know,,, it's my first purchase of a car. Please be understanding. I'm going to buy a TSX very soon. Since I run out of cash a bit, I applied for a loan. The credit union pre-approved me and issued the pre-approved certificate indicating the amount that I applied for. The person who's in charge said that upon receiving the faxes of contracts from the dealer and the insurance company, she will write a check. Then I should make a trip to the dealership with it. I'm wondering if the dealer refuses to accept the pre-approved certificate for some reason (because it's not money, check...). I asked her about this, and she said there has been no problem so far, so I should be able to make a deal smoothly. But I'm just nervous... Could I make a contract with the pre-approved certificate w/o any problem? Thanks in advance.

We have gotten at least 3 cars with a "voucher" that looks like a check, and no problems. I do not understand the difference between what I get and what you're getting, but the dealers seem happy with my vouchers. (They look like checks, and you sign them.) It makes my life in the dealerships that much easier because I don't have to negotiate a rate that will never be better than what I can get at the CU anyway. I usually have the salespeople give up quickly on trying to finance me when I tell them the int. rate! Not that I am an expert, but here's how I look at it -- the dealer wants to get you into that car, so they will probably accommodate you.

Replying to: u24ever (Jul 13, 2005 4:55 pm) What bank are you working with? One thing you don't want to do is sign any contracts at the dealer until you have secured 100% financing. My bank always gives me a pre-approved loan which is a check...but it has a not to exceed amount written right on the check...I belong to a credit union which maybe a little different. Now...one thing you can do is call the dealership in which you plan on making your purchase and ask them if they have dealt with your bank before...all that document states is that you have been approved for XXXX amount of money and it tells them that you already have funds set up...what the bank needs is the VIN# and or contract....and oh by the way...if your bank approved you...maybe American Honda can also...something else to keep in mind...because I'm sure the finance guy is going to bring it up...just remember to take it slow and not rush...if you are not a pro at this...read everything before you sign...and have them explain the things you don't understand....make sure to enjoy your buying experience....

I just purchased a tsx with navi. carbon grey with quart interior. I got it for 27,475 plus TTL. They also threw in the wheel locks installed at no charge. What do you guys think about this deal? Thanks in advance for your opinions. |

| sorry i am in phoenix, but found the taxes to be about $350-400 less in tucson. I am picking the car up on saturday, cant wait. | |
I got a quote for a 2005 TSX AT non-Nav demo with 2100 miles for $25,500. They only had about 3 TSX's on the lot and said that they were getting List Price on new models, since supply was so short and the model chance was coming up. Wouldn't come down any further. This price seems a bit high for a demo car and I think they are feeding me a line of bull about the supply of TSX's. Other dealers seem to have plenty on hand. Thoughts?
