I have an 03 TB with some type of shifting problem. It seems be starting off in second gear. From second gear and up it shifts fine.I put it in a low gear and it got stuck there for a while. Shifting to reverse is kind of harsh. Some one tell me what is going on

Don't do it, I have a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer and I just started having problems with my transmission. It shifts but jerks real hard when it does. Normally it does'nt start the jerking until I have driven it for a while. It's like once it warms up it starts jerking when pulling out from a stop sign, red light etc; We called the dealership yesterday eveing to see if we could disconnect the battery thinking it could be electronic. We were told it wouldn't hurt anything but he didn't think that would do any good. The warranty is up, he said to bring it in and they would put it on the diagnostic machine. My husband ask if they had a lot of trouble with the transmissions in these vehicles and with no straight answer he said they have had some. He also ask if we bought the vehicle from their dealership. My question is, if this is an on going issue with the Chevy Trailblazer can there not be a class action suit or a recall on this transmission they continue to install in the Chevy's? Thanks Gator Mom

We have a 2007 TB that has a Stabilitrak malfunction. While driving, the car applies the brakes...no warning...dry pavement...wet pavement...no curves...Cruise on or off!!! We are terrified to drive this vehicle. It is a lease and neither GM nor Graff Chevrolet in Okemos will do anything about it until GM issues a service bulletin. They do not even know why it is doing this so how can they release a service bulletin. They will not release us from the lease nor will they supply an alternative vehicle for the remaining term of the lease. No loaner either!!! The service manager, Matt, told me to be quiet when I told him how angry and scared I was. If there is some kind of legal help available, I sure would like to know. In the meantime, we tell everyone about how we have been treated and warn them to avoid GM at all costs. Our lives are literally at stake and they don't care.
I might also add that our TB is not the only one that is doing this but it seems to be a BIG secret.

I don't what is happening, maybe it is the engine or transmission because when the car gets hot in the middle of the day than it would switch to a 4 gear and it would always be around 3,000 rpms when you go 65 or 70 just straight road.
And when it is cold it works perfectly fine. 6 cyl 4.2
Please help thank you.

Thanks for the reply. I think Chevy should issue a recall on the problem. I have found out that there several sensors in the trans that could cause the problem, and they are not cheap to replace. Ours is doing the same thing that yours is doing. So in that sence I think we should all fill a complaint with whom ever we need to. If you know who that is send me a message.

i got my 2003 trailblazer in 04 and it was ok until last few months when i had to replace the fan clucth and right after that the transmission started shifting real hard from parking position. then two months ago it stopped working while i was on the freeway. the mechanic opened it up and found engine coolant had rusted some transmission parts. i had bought a third party warranty. but because the mechanic can't pinpoint the exact mechanical failure (don't know how the fluid got in there), the warranty company won't cover water intrusion. now we have to pay 3k out of pocket to rebuilt the transmission. but from seeing all kinds of horror stories online i wonder if it's worth the gamble to fix.

Trans seems to shake vehicle when in overdrive traveling 50 to 60 mph, can pull out of overdrive into 3rd and the shaking stops. It's like it's not locked up completely.
Have not carried back to dealership as yet, planning to next week, Any ideas what this issue might be and how big a transmission problem is this.
Thanks for your imput.

Oh my gosh!!! I have been looking for some info on the same thing.I also have a 02 Trailblazer and this past Wednesday(09.10.08) my transmission ...I can't even say what happened.I was on my way to work when I started to merge right and noticed smoke coming from what I thought was the car behind me.As, it turns out it was me!! I then noticed my car not shifting good at all.I pulled over and transmission fliud was leaking everywhere.I only have 53,000 miles on my car and it was a lease that I bought last October.I called my sales person back and even called the Chevy dealership to check for any recalls. My car is at my job...awaiting a tow to the dealership, now.I hope this isn't going to be too expensive or even worth the trouble.
