Hi- I bought a 2006 Sportage EX fully loaded and love it. I'm getting ready to take my first trip tomorrow. I will tell you that I drive 37 mi a day round trip to work and I work 6 days a week, and I only fill up one time per week. I'm looking forward to finding out how much my highway trip will cost me. I dont travel on a highway going to work each week, and not only does my Sportage take me to work 6 days a week but also all those little extras, grocery shopping, etc. I use my air conditioning always, and I dont drive like a drip. Granted, I dont drag race to be the first in line to beat all the other drivers. However, I am so elated to own such a fine vehicle that not only gives me great gas mileage, but, is fun to drive and gives me everything I ever wanted in a SUV. I bought my Sportage last year, brand new, July 1st 2007. This is the best deal I've ever made on a brand new vehicle. I would never consider looking into another vehicle. I would hope you're not so dissatisfied with your purchase, because my SUV has been nothing but thumbs up!

Thanks for the insights. I had to put the Sportage on hold because I couldn't get the price I needed for our minivan. Also I noticed the lease deal on the Sportage is not as good now as it was in July. So I'll keep an eye on incentives as we get closer to the end of the year--hopefully they'll increase. I don't mind getting a 2008 on closeout since I hear there's very few changes on the 2009s.

Towing with a Sportage by jeepster4

I'm the proud owner of a 2006 EX with about 35,000 trouble free miles. I just completed a trip from Naples Fl to KC Mo towing a fully loaded 8' U-Haul trailer. Trip was uneventful, gas mileage was about 19 mpg at a cruise between 70-75 mph. I love my little, cheap SUV.

I did my research and found the Sportage to be the best bang for my buck. One test drive and I was hooked! Traded in my 2002 Mazda Tribute, which I loved - but with 85,000 miles, I decided to retire her. You can't beat the warranty Kia offers, 10 years, 100,000 miles. Would like to hear from anyone out there who's put some miles on the 08. What, if any, problems you are experiencing. I'm in the LX-V6, leather, sunroof, Smart Blue (I call it Miller Lite blue)

passenger air bag warning light by pdc2

Just bought a 2009 sportage, v.6, 4WD. The air bag warning light "off" in front of the passenger seat sometimes goes off and sometimes comes on (not blinking) during a journey. Dealer's answer to my enquiry was - the light would go off to indicate air bag system is activated but if the passenger weights less than 110 lbs, the light would remain on indicating the system is not activated and air bag would not deploy in an accident; this is to prevent air bag injuries to passengers weighing less. No adjustment is possible but the seatbelt alone should be adequate.
My wife weighs 80lbs and safety is my main concern. Any suggestions, please. The owner's manual doesn't specify the passenger weight, only warns against children in the passenger seat.

I seem to finely had my problem solved with my 2005 Sportage cruise control.
After first changing a switch in the steering column with no cure and then installing a new module still with no success the dealership finally removed the brake pedal switch from a 2009 Sportage in the showroom and installed that which seems to have solved the problem.
The mechanic told me this now has a guard bracket over it for protection.

Anyone looking for a new Sportage, this might be a good time to buy. I saw an ad in the StarTribune (Twin Cities) today for new 2008 Sportage I4s with AT for just under $13k. The MSRP was just under $20k. Very nice vehicle for the money!

I am considering buying an '08 Sportage LX leftover. I would like to get a general sense of current owners' opinions of the '07 and/or '08. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
